Hi! I'm new to this Forum and wanted any opinions on Denon Receivers for A/V. I know they have a great reputation, but it may just be hype. I can get a comprably equipped Yamaha for $200 less than the Denon. Is it worth it?

I've made no bones about my firm commitment to the proposition that in audio, there is simply nothing that a cable can do to affect the sound of a system at all (unless that cable were purposely designed to be a filter or the runs are so long (for interconnects) that they roll-off the extreme top). So it was with some interest that I read Wayne Garcia's...

My recollection is that the dynamic range of conventional LPs tops out around 70 dB, but that a couple of exotic varieties can go higher: direct-to-disk, and 45-rpm LPs. How much higher? bob

Specifically for the 2 Kyocera cassette decks. Where are people going for these? I did find a site that talks about "flat" belts. Looks like you need to know the exact size. Not sure what the size is or if its flat or not on a Kyocera. Starting to have problems fast forwarding or rewinding, and even during playback, its getting noisy.

I stopped subscribing to The Absolute Sound about 20 years ago. Now I find someone is sending them to me as a new subscription in my name. I have received two now, from I know not where. Is anyone else getting them? Gary Eickmeier

I got into vinyl with a simple pro-ject 1.2 turntable in 1997 . I lost touch collecting but recently this year have gotten back into it. Unforunately I am noticing that most record stores are now closed down. In the late 90's some top 40 bands would releae singles and albums on vinyl from fasthits.com . However, I don't see any current pop artists for...

I've just acquired a Pro-ject Debut III and Pro-ject Speed Box whose sole purpose will be to sit near a PC for digitizing purposes. I need a not-too-expensive RIAA preamp to connect the turntable to the M- Audio card in the PC. The leaders in the clubhouse are the Project Phono Box II (~$125) and the TDL Tech 403/409 (~$200). I'm leaning toward the TDL...

I want to set up an ABX test at home on different sources to see if I can hear a difference. I am doing this for my own education and fun - I don't want to start investing in SPL meters, switches gain equalizers of other boxes. The sources are a Panasonic discman, an arcam CD player a squeezebox, and hopefully we will borrow a high end CD as well. I will...
