does anyone have a 'fix' on how to get the Pioneer CD burner to ignore SCMS so I don't have to rely on expensive and increasingly hard to find 'audio only' blank discs? I still have lots of my LPs to transcribe, so this would be really useful. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

My (limited) understanding is that what makes high-end CD players so good is their superior Digital to Analog conversion. So if you're going to take the digital output (optic or coax) from such players and plug it into a amplifier you're NOT going to get any benefit; you might as well play the CDs on a 20 dollar CD player. To really enjoy their superior...

Hello, I am in the market for a DAC. And like most computer hardware, only a few manufacturers make DAC chips. Many people design different output stages for the DACs but even the best designed output stage is only as good as the source feeding it. So I got to wondering: who makes the best DAC chips? This DAC would be for regular CD format, not SACD. Thanks...

I've NEVER had to replace an input AC fuse on a piece of stereo gear, but my old Kenwood KA-9X amp blew one the other day. It's a Toyo 6A fuse (thats ALL it says on it..both ends: Toyo 6A) , and I suppose a 250VAC/6A fuse would work except I can't tell if it was a slo-blow or fast blow cause there isn't much left. I'm surmising its a slo-blow, but can anyone...

Hi I have owned a bose system for several years and I am finally beginning to feel that I am growing out of it. Its good for home theater but doesnt give me the *full* sound that I expect for music. Anyway, I am looking at spending some money to buy a nice stereo system (a good pair of speaker, an amp and maybe a pre-amp). Can anyone recommend me to a...

Hi, I just started reading Daniel Levitin's book, "This is Your Brain on Music" and in the introduction he says that in his college days he listened to music at such high volumes that: "I actually set my loudspeakers on fire by cranking the volume too high." Is this hyperbole, or can this really happen? Has anybody here ever experienced this? Thanks!

How do monitor speakers differ from others? Is this a marketing ploy to a large extent? Thanks.
