Someone states definitively that sample rate has no effect on audio file size. My experience and understanding has always been that the higher the sample rate the larger the resulting file. Both by observation and by common sense. If you have more samples, you have more data. Given all else being equal, is there any way they're not simply wrong?

I've been fooling with creating .flv files for upload to YouTube and I notice something that I've also noticed using CDex. Some files seem to response fine to conversion to mp3 at a given bit rate say 128, but others take on this grainy, burbly artifact unless you pump up the bit rate. I ran into this with two tracks off two different albums. Both professionally...

I know the common practice is to leave the final stereo wav completely uncompressed before mastering... and I followed this rule (too?) religiously for years, going as far as refusing to compress my drums on their own bus, which didn't help the product any, as I learned with the years. As a result, there was always a HUGE discrepancy between my finished...

I'm a bit stuck with recording midi at the moment and would be so very grateful of any help. I am using cubase and have a midi keyboard. I would dearly love to know what the best and most efficient way is to first record using cubase and a yamaha psr 340. And then how to use plug ins and which ones to use and how I could get hold of them. Maybe using...

This question is more academic than anything else, but here goes: Just recently kicked up my Doors discography to my PC, and yeah-it's been years since I listened to them. Something interesting though, all the drums are hard-panned left, one of the guitars is there too, and the right channel essentially has the lead and most of the organ stuff. What...

This is my new HT PC. I think that with one alteration, one could record in the same room. The Zalman CPU cooler is running at 1400 rpm, which is the minimum achievable with motherboard control of the fan voltage at a minimum of 4 volts. The cooler is a very efficient heatpipe design that could run slower. The case is made of a composite of plastic and...

Water Resistant When purchasing a watch make sure you check to see how water resistance it is. If you plan on wearing your watch while swimming make sure you buy a watch that can withstand these conditions. Waiting until you have exposed your watch to water would not be a good time to check its resistance level. You can purchase watches that are specifically...

To be accurately described as a luxury watch one of the criteria would be that a true designer of great artistic abilities designed such a timepiece. This high quality designer has deftly crafted and shaped the watch's case so the resulting appearance is that of a beautiful accessory for any proud owners wardrobe. One of the most notable countries that produces...

Temperature You should also try to avoid leaving your watch in extreme heat or cold for extended periods of time. If you will be staying in extreme temperatures make sure you purchase a watch that can withstand the circumstances. Extreme heat tends to shorten the battery life of a quartz watch, and extreme cold can cause the watch to stop keeping time...
