Hi there, Can somebody recommend me some basic thoughts about audio signal compression? We are looking for a relatively simple but fast algorithm to compress the audio data. The audio signal is actually the vibration signal measured from the machine. The operator wants to hear the sound when he is measuring it. Of course, the sound quality does not needs to...

Last night during an amateur concert I planned to (quite legally) record the concert in two chunks, so as to miss out the interval. I was in a hurry and thought it might be quicker...

Hi all, I really like the GarageBand '08 features allowing you to audition the whole band visually, and create a song backing just by muting certain instruments and changing their style on the fly. I have narrowed down the 'next best things' on the PC to the following. Can anyone with direct experience of one or more of them please give their recommendations....

I always knew Crazy Robert Morein was, well, "crazy". A crackpot. A nutbasket. Two burgers short of a Big Mac. Fudged in the head. You know, "cuckoo" <insert ring around the ear gesture>. Ever since Crazy Bob turned into Mark David Chapman and started believing he was me, and signing his messages with my name, I became convinced this guy was a "lunatic among lunatics"...

Hi Everyone, I need some advice and your opinions, regarding recording audio on the field (films),via firewire interface into a Macbook. I have a decent field recording package but feel like I need to move on to a system where I can have multiple (more than 4) discrete channels and still maintain the quality and not to go broke in the process. What I...

I can't afford to hire pros at this point. Can anyone recommend any decent forums where serious hobbyists and indies critique each others' mixes/productions? I don't see that going on here much and would love to find such a group. Thanks. --Nick w w w .selfanimation . com p.s., Thanks so much for all the tips on compression, folks. They were...
