I just sent in my Beyer M 160 for factory servicing because it was making a buzzing sound. I'm not sure how they diagnosed the problem, but they informed me it would require a new ribbon assembly. I have typically used the M 160 for close micing electric guitar amplifiers which can be loud but not 100 watt cranked loud. I know some ribbon manufacturers...

What is it about the violin, that you need many of them to get the orchestra sound? Is there a sound processor that makes a solo violin sound like many? It just needs to create some slight pitch variations, some slight timing variation, and different rate of vibrato.

Typically, the piano is in front of the chorus, which puts it closer to the microphones than the vocalists. I fight all the time to balance the piano down and the chorus up--especially with young singers who don't project. This time, the piano was perhaps 15 feet from the (very good adult) performers, 4 or 5 feet behind and to the right of the conductor....
