Here is a repost of a question that I would like to get input on. I have the exact same problem with a 430 I picked up. Is this problem usually related to output transistors or could it be a capacitor? How would you proceed with diagnosing it. I have access to test equipment but have never worked on a receiver before. "I was just given a Harmon Kardon...

My 16 yr old daughter bought an Insignia IS-PCSS101-Two 12" 8 Ohm speakers and amp, 200 Watts into 4 ohms. This is a subwoofer system. Dad's job- Get the most thump from what she's got. I will build a cabinet for the trunk. Some options- #1-combine L+R (sub freqs) and bridge amp into parallel speakers. (500W into 4 ohms) one cabinet (no partition) two...

I'm building monoblocks using Musical Concepts PA-3D boards. I've used MC's LC-200 (Chemi-Con) 29,000 ufd blue electrolytics in my Hafler 200 and 220 and feel they are sonically inferior to the original stock 10,000 ufd caps. Dead sounding. (The 220 and 200 have the old MC GX mods). Black Gates are gone, too expensive anyway. I'm thinking of something like...

Hi, I have big problems to record (with SPIDF) a dolby surround 5.1 - signal. I use "Nero Wave Editor 3", but it doesn't work. Do I have to change the properties in this program? Or is it not possible with Nero?? Thanks a lot. With kind regards, Klaus

We are all in quest of true happiness. In this world, the idea of true/perfect happiness is not feasible because this world is inevitably doomed to total annihilation. True happiness is found only in dwelling upon Paradise, and enjoying its blessings. However, none would enter Paradise except the purified (those who are void of sins, void of an atom...

I've run my home LAN over mains using DLink's DHP-301 PowerLine HD Network Starter Kit in a bid to reduce wires. I was very happy with the new system until I turned on my Marantz 1050 amplifier yesterday and found that, being a piece of hardware from the 70s, it's picking up the noise of the LAN. Sounds like rapid switching between a 6kHz and 7kHz square...

Can someone explain me the requirements from implementing a sample rate conversion - what distortion I should remove? Same goes for Jitter, what is the I2S jitter I can allow my system to output to a DAC or PWM amp? Thanks, Uri.

This is a second request.....thanks to everyone who has helped me so far! I am a serious buyer looking for your old dusty Nakamichi cassette deck test tapes and alignment gauges. I have a few things, but I need to round out my collection. I am looking for any items that were used to service Nakamichi cassette decks, particularly the alignment...

I really want to pursue a career in the recording business and am considering moving to LA to attend the LA Recording School. It seems a little expensive for 36 weeks of training and only obtaining a certificate, no accredited degree. Their website and the mailing material makes it sound pretty good with job placement assistance and training. Does anyone...

I recently purchased a Pioneer Elite Receiver (VSX81-TXV). WHile i love this receiver, I recently noticed that the spec for this receiver actually seem "worse" than the specs for my old (non-Elite) Pioneer VSX3600 receiver, which only costs about $350 many years ago. For example, the VSX81 has THD listed at .08%, while the VSX3600 has .05% THD. I also seem...
