The MAINS input fuse, a Toyo 6A blew on my amp. I assume the 6A is 6 AMPS, but at what voltage rating ? The amp is 120/240 VAC switchable.

I have an old Kenwoodk KA-9X amp and I'm looking for a schematic of it, or perhaps even the KA-7X or others in this KA-series since there might me similarities in several of the sections (poer supply, etc. ) . Anyone have a line on a source for old Kenwood schematics ?

My new digital FM tuner puts out too strong a signal compared to my other inputs (TV and CD). I want to install a dual pot between the tuner and preamp to reduce the volume. What is the best value pot to use for this. I have ordered 50K, 100K, 250K and 500K from Mouser (the pots are cheap - the shipping is not). ---MIKE--- >>In...

For a few months now, I have been using a vintage Pioneer SX-780 receiver in pristine condition. I have really enjoyed using this receiver and really like its excellent, warm sound for both analog and digital sources. But now fate has smiled upon me and I have just discovered a vintage Pioneer SX-750, also in pristine condition. I will keep one of...

I am in the UK and have a 10m length of some cheap TV aerial coax. It came from a discount store as a TV coax extension cable. I measure the cable diameter as 4.8mm. (1) Is it ok to use this sort of coax for a microphone? I don't want an impaired audio signal. The length I need to use is 3 to 4 metres. (2) Is it ok for UHF TV or is it actually...

Hi: Why does DVD-Audio use 192 kHz sample rate? What's the advantage over 44.1 kHz? Humans can't hear the full range of a 192 kHz sample rate? On average, what is the minimum sample rate for a guy in his early to mid 20s who likes treble? I agree there are a small percentage of humans who can hear above 20 kHz. However, DVD-audio uses a sample-rate...

If you were around in the late 1980s and early 1990s you may remember Cesium Sound full page ads in Keyboard and Electronic Musician, or you may have gotten a flyer. Hi: The following website discusses the effects of sound waves on the human body. Is the info true? I ask because it really looks weird? http://www.makeitlouder.com/Decibel%20Level%20Chart.txt Thanks, Radium

I purchased a monster cable SS-6 speaker selector and according to the manual it has " High Current Amplifier Protection circuitry: When engaged, this impedance matched circuitry maximizes high power amplifier performance and allows you to safely use multiple speaker pairs simultaneously without overloading or damaging your amplifier." My question is why...

Would I be able to get low 40-90Hz sounds from a 6.5" sealed sub in a car? I'm looking to use my factory sub with a different amp with an adjustable crossover to turn the resonating frequency down from the 160-250Hz range to the 50-90 range. I'm looking for decent-quality sound without being "boomy." Has anyone seen this done easily, or am I looking...

I'm planning on recording some music that's only on my computer onto cassettes for a back-up. One of the reasons is regarding the dubios durability issues of CD-R's, and also becasue I miss making tapes on my tape deck, an NAD 613. My supply of high bias cassettes is a bit low & it seems stores don't carry them anymore. I remember about 15 years ago,...

Hi, A friend of mine has a few EV P3000 amps. Occasionally, they will not come out of protect at switch on, but if you keep trying they will, and will run just fine after that. He brought me one a while ago to look at, but of course it behaved itself perfectly for me, couldn't get it to go into protect at all.. I did the usual cleaning everything...
