I need tube advice, what tubes can replace a 6L6 without being biased in a guitar amplifier, and what is the sound difference?. Is there a good source to find out this information? Maj6th

I'm restoring a 40+ year old Scott preamplifier. How well do the Pyramid brand plastic-encapsulated paper / foil caps hold up over time, in terms of leakage? Is it necessary to replace them wholesale? Thanks Jon

That's the latest project I finished, a little 'PC Speaker' Tube amplifier using, per channel, a pair of 6AW8s PP into 20k OPTs. Does between 3 and 4 Watts Po per channel. Similar to my mini guitar amp it's powered off a 12VAC (40VA in this case) wallwart with a reverse 20VA tranny inside generating about 240V (loaded) for B+. Screens are at 200V. PS...

Today I had a few friends around to share some musical moments. The 845 SET amps i have running were fine. We tried all sort of music and up to loud levels. My voltemeter told me we rarely exceeded a couple of peak volts output. The amps are set run 4 ohm speakers and give the amps maximum of 60 watts at 1.5% THD and 50watts at 0.5%. Next month...
