In recent posts I described the vast improvements to the noise performance and reduction of IMD of adding RCRC filtering to the anode supply so that only 0.03Vrms of hum exists at the OPT CT for the amp channels each using 4 x 300B in class AB1. I added a transistor CCS tail to the balanced drive stage which is very similar to the original Williamson...

Doesn't sound very good and is not very powerful, but it works. I'm trying to diagnose if I have a problem - or - if I need to modify it to make it work...

I have a power transformer with 6.3VAC filament voltage I want to use in a circuit. Is there a way to mix 6V and 12V tubes powered from this transformer? In other words, can I power 2 6V tubes and then double the voltage somehow to heat a single 12V tube? If so, I'm having trouble visualizing how to do this. Thanks.

Hello, I have a 1965 McIntosh MX110 and was wanting input on what brands of coupling caps people would use to update this preamp-tuner. I usually use IC metalized polys but they can be quite bright in the H.H. Scotts I've used them in. Any advice is appreciated. Edward Morris

There has been some discussion on RAT recently about amplifier stability and RC networks. Most of us find the values for these by empirical methods, using a rule-of-thumb or two and a couple of decade boxes. I thought it might be useful to have these values calculated from 10Hz to 100kHz in an Excel spreadsheet which would also plot the impedance, Z,...
