What's the real difference between 5W-40 and 15W-40 in terms of performance. If you never go below 40 degrees, does it matter? Will 15W-40 hold up better than 5W-40? Currently I have a couple of bikes- 2 scooters and 1 motorcycle. Mostly they say to use 10W-40 (and of course the "dealership" brand is recommended). For a while I just used Mobil...

One thing this means is that I might have missed some of your valued posts because I was not willing to pull up all 38 million or so posts that are on the giganews server. I don't think Emacs can handle that many headers anyway. -- This post uses 100% post consumer electrons and 100% virgin photons. An ideal world is left as an excercise to the reader. ...

So, Cat and I are in my garage yesterday, looking over the replacement pieces she bought for her Sportster. Against my advice, of course. I told her to wait on buying new bags and stuff, because, chances are she was going to drop the bike again. The original bags were barely scuffed, the bike looked and rode fine. She spent $900.00, she doesn't have. Anyway,...

Someone mentioned wanting to ride this highway sometime soon... Be advised, they are not planning on opening the highway until 01 July this year... -- RCOS #7 IBA# 11465 http://imagesdesavions.com

I'm getting back in the saddle on this NG again and have a weird thing about my bike that I'd like some insight on. 2005 Honda 750 Aero Shadow; single carb with pull choke on the side. To take off in the morning, I'd pull out the choke and warm up this cold-natured beast before taking off, turn the choke off and *chug* away for the first mile or so until...

Good morning, I'm a cycle noob. I've been riding for about a year and this season I plan to upgrade from my Honda Rebel Buzzbomber to a brand-spanking-new 07 Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Custom. Before I go out and purchase the new bike, I decided to research the break-in period for new engines. The advice seems to run the gamut from the easy break-in (with no...

In 1998, I took a trip down to the tidewater area of Virginia in my pick-up truck. With my riding buddy George's 1998 Harley Davidson Road King in the back, we headed down to have his 2,500 mile service performed by the Harley dealer where he bought the bike. On the way back, it was such a nice day that we took turns driving the truck and riding his...

While looking for a motorcyclist in a fist fight with a cager, I found this. I've seen it. Been threatened wearing one. I think Macy had one on in a "Wild Hogs" fistfight. Pretty stupid for a cager, smart for a rider. So, don't remove your helmet if a cager wants to punch you out. -- By it's very nature, my sig. makes this posting 100% on topic. Anyone have any ideas on how to remove silicon dielectric grease from small multipin bike connectors? I'm looking for something that I can soak the connector in or spray on (since the pins are too small to clean directly). Thanks for any advice.

(I'm 49 and I still consider myself a newbie rider. Only been riding for a year and a half but I commute almost every day on the bike. This report is from that perspective.) I had originally wanted to go to AZ Bike week so I could test ride the new Vulcan 900 but we couldn't wait and bought one a few weeks ago. Went to the show anyway and rode six different...
