Short version: I rode a freshly rebuilt 1988 Honda XR250R in the 2008 Delaware Enduro yesterday. The bike ran perfectly all day with the only problem being a broken odometer cable thanks to a log. I had one minor crash in the mud with no injuries. Finished 2nd in Vet C. All in all, a great day of riding. Long version: A year or so ago, someone gave...

I have tried several times to post my trip report from yesterday, it won't post. I can post other messages, and to other google groups from my google account, but not my report, I don't get it, maybe there is some word or combination of words that is stopping it, I don't know, looks innocent enough to me. Oh well, maybe tomorrow...

Came across this bit of essential knowledge, written by an American couple riding a ChangJian across Mongolia. (Changjian is a Chinese knockoff of a 1938 BMW R 71, or something like that.) < * w w w .draginrun . com /9-13-06_How_to_Cook_a_Marmot.htm> -- Charles '99 YZ250

Hey y'all, Just picked up a '01 Yamaha TT-R90 for my 11 year old. It's running ok though it's idling a little low. I increased the idle a bit and that helped. The other problem is excessive backfiring during decel and stopping. Suggestions to fix are appreciated. I havn't had a chance to do a full go-over on the bike yet but plan to clean the air cleaner,...

Hi all, I'm getting my bike shipped in from Dallas Texas and I'll be ready to ride this weekend, Yahoo!!! I'm in the Easton/Redding area and wondering where there are some nice places to ride either on or off road. Thanks in advance Dave

I did not mention it but about the time CTD had his BMX disaster I also had a little scrape up. I got on my kids little motorcycle and started screwing around in the back yard. Of course I took a crapper and the peg slammed my ankle. I am 50 so my first thought was oh crap, there goes my summer as I really don't heal like I used to. But I got up and walked...

For those manly men who have a chainsaw - it's my experience that a chain is good for all of about one tree, if you're dropping and dicing - invarably, you'll tap the ground, then it's all downhill. Fighting a dull blade can also get extremely dangerous. There's nothing like a brandy-new razor sharp blade, so I keep 3 chains ready to go, and change them...

I posted this at a sports bike thread last week but no takers, which is no surprise since most sport bike riders ride new, shiny machines. So I figure the dirt folk here ought to be a better bet since each of you likely own at least 3 bikes and the oldest is at least a couple of decades old. Meaning you likely visit bike wreckers more than anyone else. Please...

A call to action! Get busy. I got this: ATV Trails bill has passed through the Committees on Environment and Appropriations. Soon it will reach the House Floor for a general vote. It is very, very important that everyone call or email their Representative and Senator and ask that they support HB 5602. Find your legislator's contact info at w w w .cga.ct.gov We've...

Received a copy of "Gathering Speed - Tales of Motorcyles and Life" in the mail yesterday from Wuds, Deeney & Craig (I hear they're living together now). I have only read the forward thus far, but it sounds interesting and I can't wait to delve into the book in earnest. Thanks, guys! Ya'll rock! (I don't care what Dave says about you). Fred...

Walking one of the girls to the schoolbus this morning, I was attcked by a neighbor's puggle (cross between a beagle and a pug). No injuries. I had both hands in my jacket pockets. And the dog lunged forwards on its leash and latched onto the front of my sweatshirt which was hanging out of the zipped jacket. I'm glad it didn't latch on a little lower....
