Even though this weekend was the official start to the big-time racing season, normally cause for pure joy, this one ended up giving me a certain wistful feeling. That's because in the midst of this spring rebirth of racing there was a pall of death of the real thing hanging in the air. First it was the announcement that the AMA had done the expected,...

...and the exciting thing is that newcomer hunger pays off. the newbies can't be accused to having an unfair machine advantage. I guess they simply bring the willingness to risk a tad bit more than the established riders. Who would have thought Lorenzo and Dovizioso would be where they landed? Power to them. As expected, Stoner had the edge on a race...

Wow. Rookies 1st and 2nd. Three Yamahas on the front row. Stoner only 4th. Rossi only 7th. If the race is half as interesting, it'll be still be great. -- Champ neal at champ dot org dot uk

I saw a monkey bonk a football once, hell, I even seen what passes for a mermaid, but I ain't never seen a Limey win Daytona, or for that matter, a Ducati either, but with all the changes going on here at the *World Center of Racing* one of those might just come to pass this afternoon.. The sun is out,(mid 60's) the track dry, but it's howlin' wolf....

Quite a few surprises in some respects. No surprise Stoner is fastest on both sessions BUT only by a whisker over Lorenzo in both sessions!! In fact in session 2 there are a gaggle of Mich shod Yamaha's 2nd thru 4th, a Mich shod Honda of Dovizioso in 5th, Alex DeAngelis's Bstone Honda next and Rossi in 9th nearly a second off the pace and the slowest...

I am hoping for some Eurosport or Sky coverage showing up on the torrent sites but do not see anything and I do not want to visit the news sites for fear of spoilers! Are they not on the track yet?

The Ben kind that is.. BBoz. Herrin and (broke arm?) R. Hayden.. The rain held off(barely) and the "new" Ben found his long lost mojo... We're outta here, not lookin' so good for the GNS 2nite, but we'll see... Buh-bye...

Ya'know what? Sometimes I wonder about some really frivolous things, like red heads and motorcycle racing. (go figure) Anyway, I was thinkin' if maybe someday, like ten years from now, say, Hodgy and Rossi should happen to meet at a party, or something and Val goes, "I won a bunch of Beemer's at those IRTA things" and then Hodgy goes "that's awesome",...

Woo, woo!! I win ten whole buck$ (prolly .2 Euros) for Mat being the first(only?) in the .35's! It pretty much looks like a Yosh front row, surprised? Ok, maybe not.. Mladin, Spies, T.Hayden and Disalvo..(gangsta' boi) Hmm, with those Moto ST guys hangin' around all over the place and them being all about parity one has to wonder what they'll do to...

The Daytona 200 is being shown live on Motors TV. But I can't find the Superbike race. Anyone know if they're carrying it this year? And is any of the AMA racing being shown on live or delayed streamed video over the web? -- Julian Bond E&MSN: julian_bond at voidstar.com M: +44 (0)77 5907 2173 Webmaster: http://www.ecademy.com/ T:...

No wonder. The preseason tests have been all over the frigging place and left us all with our heads spinning. Some new blood's come along that seems seriously fast on occasion. Some veterans have countered that with a methodical approach to consistent, fast times on race setups. All in all, though, I have to say it looks like Stoner has looked damn...

Either the France family, "Jimbo" France in particular, or Grand AM are now the new owners of 2 wheeled road racing in this part of the world, at least that's the story we're getting here at the *WORLD CENTER of RACING*, no press release as yet, but it's a done deal and according to a pretty knowledgeable source, it has been for some time now. The reasons...
