Hi Guys, Looking for any and all parts for a 1976 DT400. I guess I should clarify that I am looking for very nice condition cosmetically, as I am restoring this bike. Main items are tank, seat, turn signals and front and rear fenders. I would consider anything you have though. Thanks so much for your time. Sincerely, Tim

On a cross-country trip in June, just after turning 100K, Geraldine started making a racket. Fortunately we were back in-state. I rented a U-Haul and trailered her home. Then I swapped engines with Fenris, the parts bike. Today, I did a postmortem on the old engine. Once again a magnet cap had come loose within the surrounding alternator rotor and...

Hi guys, Im converting a gasoline engine so that it can use alcohol as its main fuel. I want to ask more about motorcycle ignition system especially on a suzuki gs125.From the manual, it uses a CDI system, where it picks up signals from a pulser coil in the magneto assembly and the capacitor in the CDI block will discharge 150-300volts into the primary coil(part...

'87 CBR600, 20k "easy" mi. CV Keihins. I had to pull carbs, clean pilot jets, etc about 6 weeks ago. Seemed to be running about as good as ever. Added something from an old can of Stabil to gas yesterday. Rode about 12 mi., spent 20 min. in a store, came out, it wouldn't start. Tried 0 throttle, 1/8 throttle, 1/2 throttle, even (very briefly) with...

My 1981 Kawasaki LTD 550 has a shimmy that is most pronounced at 35 MPH. I've removed the windshield and mirrors from the handlebars without making any difference. Just keeping my hands solidly on the grips keeps the shimmy under control but it doesn't seem safe or normal. Any suggestions would be helpful because it doesn't feel very solid like I would...

Hi, I have a 1985 Honda Rebel 250cc CMX250C. The air filter is a foam element that you clean and replace. But my foam element is falling apart and I need to replace it. I don't see anything for sale anyplace that is either the entire filter or just the foam element. The body of the filter is fine, if i could locate a place to buy just the foam...

I *almost* went down to Harbor Freight the other day to get a lift when a friend in another state mentioned that his felt much less stable than the "high dollar lifts" that you might find in a motorcycle shop. My primary use will be to work on my KZ1000P's, a trials bike a dirtbike and probably my garden tractor. My guess is that half the time I'm working...

Took the bike (XV535 virago) in for steering head bearings replacement for MOT. When collected and driven away the bars don't appear to be in a straight line when driving straight ahead - the right side slightly back and the left slightly forward. I can't really see how this can be from looking at the way the risers and clamps at the top of the forks are...

Two spark plugs - One cylinder I have a circa 1970 Yamaha 175 enduro motorcycle that has one cylinder, but two spark plugs. I've never had a spark plug wire on the 'other' plug and it's run just fine. Now, many many years later, I'm trying to fix this bike up for my son and I'm wondering, "What the heck is this other plug for???" I don't even think there...

I have a 1993 DR250. It seemed to not be accelerating well, so i decided to pull the carb and clean it out. It actually looked pretty clean, although when i put it back on the bike started much quicker than usual, so I assumed i had fixed something. Rode it down the road a couple of miles, and it started to bog. I stopped and it would idle and re-start fine,...

Hello all humans far brighter than I! Recently took my 1980 CB750F on a two hour highway trek to NYC. Pulled into a reststop a little over half an hour into the trip. As I pulled onto the ramp and began to downshift, the clutch handle felt funny. I initially chalked it up to my hands stiffening in the cold, pre dawn air. However, I noticed as I approached...

Hi Guys, Purchased this bike new in '02 for my son. Always seemed to take a few more kicks than I thought it should and seems to take a fairly long time to warm up to where it will idle without the choke. Adjusting the idle doesn't make a difference. This bike doesn't have a whole lot of hours on it and has always seemed to run like this. Anyone else...

I just purchased a 1987 Honda CMX250 Rebel for my Wife and it has an incandesant style headlight bulb. I would like to update to an H-4 style headlamp. My question is: Will the stock wiring be heavy enough to support the extra load of an H-4 style headlamp or will rewiring be necessary? Thanks in advance, Tom
