Just replaced my voltage regulator again after less than a year's service. This is an automotive type 3 wire regulator, energizing the alternator rotor through slip rings. Is this second failure pure coincidence and bad luck or could there be a problem such as a high resistance or bad diodes taking out the regulators ? Any insights or suggested diagnostics...

I started taking the bike a part to replace the battery without knowing to much about where the battery was and the parts I need to remove to get to it. At this point I am open for suggestions from those of you how have done it before. Also, if you have any special input about the battery that I want to buy.

I just bought a restored 1974 Honda CR250M Elsinore. Now I need to buy a new right foot. The kick starter on this thing has reared up and bit me so many times in the last couple hours, I may never walk the same again. Is there a trick to starting these things? I've been told the timing may be off a bit, but don't have a spark plug hole dial indicator to...

All vehicles need to be multi-fuel by mandate. Tariffs need to be removed from imported alternative fuels and fuel crops like sugar cane by executive order. Then the one trillion dollars we give to the Arabs and terrorist oil producers will be diverted to poor third world agricultural countries and give us a diversity of cleaner fuels like ethanol, biodiesel, methanol...

A tire drags air along it's rim, this airstream becomes thicker and more violent when you go faster. I was thinking perhaps it is possible to find a way to cut this Mohawk of air into a more useful shape. I've some what illustrated my idea here. * gabydewilde.googlepages . com /wheel-cover-turbine Please share me your thoughts on this. Thank ...

I'm running a BMW R100GS with a slightly modified solo seat and am considering possible seat improvements. What I have now is a stock seat with a gel pad added and some foam rubber cushioning between the seat pan and frame. I'd modified the seat mount to allow a little bit of extra travel as the pan moves up and down. Right now, I'm good for 300-400...

I'm having a 1975 Honda XL350 engine completely redone. I mean everything. Every seal, gasket, bearing and bushing replaced if it needs it or not. New valves, valve seals, guides, piston and rings. You name it, if it even looks worn, it's getting replaced. I'm doing the search for NOS or aftermarket parts myself, to save paying the mechanic for surfing the...

It is my impression that 2-stroke engines don't have oil filter. So where do the metal filings (wear off from engine parts) go? Do they get ejected out the exhaust?

I am going to replace the stock risers on my wife's 2003 VLX. I bought a pair of Aeromach 4 inch pullbacks as they were advertised as a fit for this bike. After reading some reviews on them it seemed like I might have to reroute the clutch cable, no prob. Well, I received them and after a quick look around I can see that in addition to the clutch cable,...

I was in Wal*Mart the other day, buying a 55-gallon drum of Berryman B12 Choke and Carburetor Cleaner to soak my motorcycles in and I noticed they had a lot of Bosch Platinum spark plugs for $8.88 a pair. The Bosch part numbers are 4301, 4302, 4303, 4304, 4305, 4306, 4307, 4308, and 4309. If I knew what the NGK or Nippon Denso equivalent was, I might...
