Hi Guys, Anyone know where to look up VINs for bikes earlier than 1980? Also, how early the previous year would a bike be built then sold as the next years model? For example, I have a Yamaha DT250 titled as a '76, yet it was manufactured in March of '75. I know the new bikes come out late Summer early Fall for the next year, so if the frame sticker...

I'm searching for some help for my man who is trying to put this bike back together. 1982 SECA 750. Long story short, it hasn't been used in about 8 years... it started up, and ran but dumped gas and oil all over the place. So he started taking it apart, he cleaned out the carbs, put on all new spark plugs, and tubing, etc. Now it starts, isn't dumping gas/oil......

OK I've got one here that's just got me stumped. Maybe some old-timey Honda mechanic might be able to help 1980 Honda 750K. I put a new battery in it start of the season, and I ride it most every day. The problem is that after about a week of riding, the battey has very little charge in it - just enough to start the engine if the engine starts in...

Is it plausable to modify an older oil injection system for castor instead of dino oils? It's a crazy thought but I have my reasons. Least of which I prefer the high temp lubircity properties of castor over the other choices. -- Keith

I am looking to buy a new bike and I am looking for some advice. Currently I ride an 81 Yamaha Maxim 750. It is my first bike and I've been riding it for close to 3 yrs. It is a good bike but I think I'm ready for something new..... Being that it is my first bike I naturally started looking at Yamaha's and I'm liking the V Star 650's. However i have also...

Once again considering dual plugging my '88 BMW airhead. Supposedly, this strengthens the low end and allows better running on regular or 89 octane fuel. Also supposed to allow a bump in compression. Job would require a new coil setup and a small diameter plug hole tapped into each cylinder. Any thoughts on this mod ? Good idea ? Not so good ? Downside...

I need a tiny part for my throttle cable. Why I gotta buy a whole new cable for that? You know that plastic thing where 2 cables to the carbs tie to the one cable from the handlebar? It has a hole in the middle and two slots on the sides. I guess I can make one. -- Claude Hopper :) ? ? ¥

Has anyone tried or had experience with either of these products? Are they comperable? I have used Kreem in the past. But never again. I am hoping for a harder more durable long term fix. Bets regards, frp

I just bought a 2005 FLHPI Police bike....shifting through the gears...when I reach 4th, it sounds like a blower on a Mopar engine...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz... . it 's not real loud, but noticable compared to no sound in 1st,2nd,3rd, and 5th. it's got 6100 miles on it, and I absolutely love it. I purchased it from Mike's Famous Harley in Delaware. The bike was de-commissioned...

I have a 1976 CB750F with a Keihin CR-Special. When I first bought the carb and installed it on the bike it ran good even though the mixture was pretty rich. The bike sat in outside storage for a couple of years and gained some oxidation. I took the bike apart, including the carbs, to clean up the corrosion. Now I can't even get it to idle right. When...

Change the rear sprocket from 50T to 45T and it makes a decent street bike that gets over 100 mpg. Still has plenty of umph to carry you over those steep hills in top gear. With it's big fat tires looks like a much bigger bike. Thinking about putting a side car and rag top for winter use. -- Claude Hopper :) ? ? ¥

Hello I presently have 2 newer bikes, an 02 Yamaha FZ1 with 18k miles, and an 07 Suzuki SV 650S with 2K miles, I am trying to get an in between bike that will compromise, the Yamaha has power and comfort, a bit heavy, average handling, excellent braking and about 43 mpg, the Suzuki has good handling, great fuel economy, decent braking, power is...
