I believe one was mentioned on this list about a year ago, but I can't find the reference. I need a second sheet of glass to hold my negs flat in my flat bed scanner. Hopefully I'll be able to proof an entire roll of 35 mm in a single scan. Microtek 1800f if anyone needs to know. -Lew

Dear ng, As far as I understand it the grain in the bw negative can to some extend be controlled by choice of the developer. MicrodolX is among others said to produce a slightly grainier impression than e.g. Rodinal. Now my newbie question is how this relates to the color process? Is there also a choice of different developers that influence the impression...

Hi All, I would like some tips about cutting sheet lith films so that I can roll it into 120 roll film, or load into pinhole/box camera. I get this film in 20"x24" size. I once did it and found it very hard to cut the film- I used the normal print paper trimmer. The film is too thin and the blade simple moved over the film instead of cutting it. One...

Hi All, I recently shot a roll of 35mm film; mostly landscape in cloudy conditions. Since I use grade2 paper, I decided to increase contrast by developing for more time. I learnt from rec.photo.darkroom that an increse of approximately 30 percent in development time would increase contrast by one grade a paper; and that would also increase film speed....

Ok chaps, it is not my week. Tried stand development. FP4+ exposed at 125. Rodinal 1:150 for 1 hour, no agitation. Patterson tank and reals. 600ml dev (500ml needed to cover spool). Could be just a fluke as I normally don't have problems but: http :// www .petezilla.co.uk/gallery/Oddments All bar the butterfly. Seemed to effect the end of the film...

I've recently started using b/wfilm again. More specifically, delta400 and xp2. Last time I used b/w was >25 years ago, so my memory of it is nothing but foggy! I'm currently scannning the film with a 9000ED. One thing I've noticed: the grain in both of these films seems to be proportional to the exposure: in dark sections or just plain underexposed,...

I have 300' of Kodak Hawkeye Surveillance film (B&W) and the first roll is still in the camera. I was checking development times with some small pieces and was upset to see the emulsion reticulate and finally fall off the film in lumps. My initial reaction was to blame the tap water wash before and after the fixer, but I suspect it is something other...

Are there any proofers out there anymore that'll proof 120 and/or 35(6 frames x 6 strips) on an 8x10 sheet of paper? The sales people at BH are unfamiliar with this concept & the closest we could find in their catalog was $75.00! -Lew -- -Lew The workers took the robot for Maria.

It is claimed one can make an IJ print that can't be told from a SG print. Challenge: Make a silver-gelatine print than can't be told from an ink-jet print. -- Nicholas O.
