Almost every modern cell phone has a camera feature. Though they are far away from modern quality digital camera, cell phone cameras can still be used to produce good quality photographs. The cell phone has some additional features that are not yet obtainable on digital cameras and so may even be able to provide some preference. The best way to obtain...

I'm on the edge of beating myself up. I got a very clean Ilford 400 enlarging head. It mounted properly to my enlarger. Tomorrow I will get some more paper with the intent of using it. But the filters are Yellow and Magenta. Are these not the filters used for Ilford MC? I ask because a friend suggested they are not. Let me have it. I deserve i...

I've made this video tutorial describing how to isolate an object from the background of a photography Part 1: http://www.spymac.com/details/?2331523 Part 2: http://www.spymac.com/details/?2331904 Personally I prefer masking, but this technique works very well in many cases

Hi, a friend of mine who is no more printing in darkroom gave me some cans of kodak D-11 developer and Kodak Unifix fixer. Here are the questions: - does D-11 really give a very high contrast with paper? I do not intend to use it for portraits, but for some more abstract subject. I thought eventually to use a less contrasted paper, i.e. contrast index 3...

An announcment on the Ilfordphoto web site states that they have aquired Kentmere. http://www.ilfordphoto.com Kentmere is an old time English maker of photographic materials, mostly B&W paper. Kentmere also makes the printing out paper sold as Centenial and perhaps other brands in the US. Kentmere also makes papers sold under various...

I have the opportunity to buy vast quantities of Ilford Express paper in 10" and 5" rolls from 50 to 100' lenghts. While I have read Ilford's literature on this stuff, I can't sift the BS from what might be important to a serious (eg not mass-consumption) printer. Do you all have any insight into this paper? Thank you in advance, js

I've been poking around on Ebay and Craigslist and there are some reasonble enlargers available at the moment, several Beseler 23c series. What's the most basic enlarger that I can do 35mm, 6x4.5, and 6x6 negatives, and up to 11x14 prints? Ok, I just developed my first 3 rolls of film at home, and except for a little bit of dust on the last roll the results are excellent. I'll sporadically be developing more over the next couple of months. I'm using Rodinal, Arista's indicator stop bath, Arista's Universal non-hardening fixer, and Kentflo. Questions: 1. The Rodinal says undiluted...

I usually don't use T Max but that was all I could get this week at the local camera store (they DO stock film but are moving soon and have a reduced stock at the moment). Do I have to use T Max developer or can I use the old faithful D76. Or is there something else better for T Max? -- Michael

Pyromasters Your goal in this game inspired by Atomic Bomberman is to play as one of the Pyromasters and destroy the rest. You can play against up to three other computer players or local friends. You have limited time to achieve victory. Once the time is up, the level will render smaller and smaller until only one player is alive. There are negative and positive...
