Please no flamers. Please will the P&S troll stay out of this. i'm looking for honest advice, preferably from someone with firsthand experience with the new Olympus 4/3 Pen Digital cameras. I am a film photographer using good SLRs (Pentax 6x7 for MF, Olympus OM2 and OM10, and Nikon F for 35mm) but I want to get a good digital camera. I was looking...

I bought a D70 5 years ago and a D80 3 years ago. Both worked with a little IR remote trigger from Nikon (ML-L3). The new D300S won't work with it of course and so I ordered a cheap little $9.93 substitute on ebay the other day. It hasn't arrived yet but before it arrives I've got a strong hunch I just threw my ten bucks out the window. The seller's...

I'll believe this claim when I see it. http :// www .eoshd, com /entry.php?29-Panasonic-engineer-reveals-workings-of- GH2-dual-exposure-sensor Here are the key points: * Panasonic have developed a 4K x 2K image sensor (approx. 12 megapixel) based on 'dual exposure technique' * The sensor is described as having new architecture that tries to improve...

You look at what Nikon does with a sensor, and then Sony (who actually makes them) and you wonder, what the F--- is WRONG with Sony? Seriously, if they could put that D3s sensor in a D700x (or whatever it will be called), the world would beat an even stronger path to Nikon's door, while slamming it in Canon's face. The DXO results for it were impressive...

I have just received a "last chance" discount coupon to upgrade to ACDSee 3.0 Pro. The last time I researched this program it still had the defect (along with version 2.5) of significantly lowering the brightness of NEF files which had been taken with the Nikon D90 after they have been viewed for about 5 seconds. Does anyone know if this problem has...

Cutting bottom straps off camera bag today, I accidentally made a tiny cut about 1/4" long in "second bottom" layer of bag. Bag apparently is polypropylene. Any ideas on how to fix it - so it doesn't spread?

As the subject implies, I'm taking them, with my P&S which is *not* made of plastic, but of aliminium (www .nytech.de), I turn the flash off, place the sleeve on my chair, and take a photo (goes without saying, on a tripod) with proper ligthing, with a slow shutter speed. (I am doing that, because for my "needle drops", also cds burnt from records, I want...

I have long had a wish to take closeup photographs of some tool-related objects. My Canon A630, with it's macro focus capability of 1 cm is pretty good in this regard, although the short subject distance makes for some lighting difficulties. http :// www .dpreview, com /reviews/specs/Canon/canon a630.asp I had long taken "as fact" the notion that I can't just...

Because this is what ISO 25,600 looks like on a micro 4/3rds sensor. -3 stops at 3200 ISO. RAW to JPEG in PS-CS4, zero NR. http :// www .pbase, com /andersonrm/image/122061931/original

And this one is only 45 megapixels, not 60. Interesting thing, I'd have expected going from 12-24 megapixels to show at least a great a detail jump as going from 24-48 megapixels, but that isn't the case here. http :// forums.dpreview, com /forums/read.asp?forum21&message0419028

What do you use for testing your lens for front/rear focus alignment? The LensAlign looks to be a good tool but a bit on the pricey side for a hobbyist. Anything out there that is lower cost or maybe even free - that would be nice... Thanks, Bob S.
