A few compact cameras with backlit sensors have been launched. Are there any reviews or comparisons detailing how the performance is compared to standard cameras? -- Alfred Molon ------------------------------ Olympus E-series DSLRs and micro 4/3 forum at http :// tech.groups.yahoo,com /group/MyOlympus/ http :// myolympus.org/ photo sharing site

While going thru boxes of old junk, I found a small, stamped-steel wrench, impressed with "SPOTMASTER SERVICE WRENCH". It just a guess that this was for a Gossen Spotmaster exposure-meter. At any rate, if anyone wants it, respond here with an eMail addrees that I can decipher, and we can work out where to send it. I'm not asking any money. BTW,...

I know relatively little about the technical workings of digital photography, and from what I have read here, some of you know a great deal. I would like to understand what happens in my camera when I change the ISO setting. I am hoping that once I understand that, I will know the (potential) disadvantages of always shooting at high ISO, if there...

Program demonstrates the relationship between Exposure Value, Apperture, and Shutter Speed. Click a parameter value to fix, while the other two are varied. Requires VBRUN300.DLL . casagiannoni@optonline,net

Photographers seeing Human Target may have noticed a very fine technology that takes a completely pixillated image, in a reflection no less- and fills in incredible detail that wasn't at all available in the first place.... At the same time, their computers whir as they did last decade, but no reels.... -- john mcwilliams

Definitely has an edge over the 4/3rds stuff when it comes to shallow DOF. I've heard all the arguments from the 4/3rds shooters (I shoot it) and APS still has an edge when it comes to this. These images from the owner of the Samsung are much reduced in size, but tonality looks nice. http :// forums.dpreview, com /forums/read.asp?forum41&message470...

Who comes up with these terms? Moving the sensing plane/grid/metal collectors behind the photo diodes is a nice idea. I think it will provide better sensor performance. But how is it back lit? It is back sensed or back detected or back read, or back .... Geeez!

I see that dealextreme, com is offering a bunch of lens hoods and lens caps for Canon and Nikon lenses. I'd probably stay away from their filters, but for a lens hood I would not hesitate to buy a CCLH (cheap Chinese lens hood). For anyone foolish enough to want to add wide-angle or telephoto adapters to a P&S camera, they have some of those lens adapters...

A friend of mine went to an Autorama. I suggested he take his Nikon DSLR, but for some reason, he opted instead to bring a mid-level Sony P&S. Memories to cherish? Uggg! Corner crop at only 400 ISO. So much for those "great" P&S lenses. http :// www .pbase, com /andersonrm/image/122438348/original
