Just got one of these, what with the LE-2(2) designation? It is a 4.5, 10inch (254mm) lens, it has coated optics. The box it came in states it was manufactured in 04/56 and that it was made for the US Army(signal corps). I have seen a type of wollensak lenses, but I am lost on this one. Jim Simmons

I just picked up a Graphic View I (base tilts) and fell in love with its Art Deco Look. Camera seems to be in fairly good shape, at least not bad for 60 years old(!), bellows good but it needs a few parts to complete and a few minor repairs. So I have a few questions: Has someone seen the Graphic View repair CD offered on that auction site, is it...

I axed* a question in the thread above that wasn't answered, so hoping to get a response here. Since the crux of this whole discussion is a difference of a whole *one third of a stop*, my question was, and is, isn't this too inconsequential to even merit discussion, since we're talking about black & white negative materials here? Seems to me that a...

When re-reading Ansel Adams' "The Negative", I came across by the following paragraph, which appears on pp. 42-43 in the 2002 editions, whivh I belive is a reprint of the 1981 edition: 'If pressed, the manufacturers of some exposure meters will acknowledge that they depart from standard calibration of their meters by incorporating a "K factor."...

Hi, I am new to this group. I have just been bitten by the large format bug. I have a camerz dsl camera. It has a electronic lens and I was wondering if anyone has any information on it. Hi, I have a Calumet Orbit and it is missing those gizmos which resemble little 1 inch long tapes with a D ring at the end that are glued to the bellows and enable you to take in the bellows so that it doesn't sag when you are using a short bellows draw. What those gizmos called and where can I get them? If not what can I make them out of and what...

why is it that when I go to move my views, the view wants to zoom in on the poser subject's foot? It's hard as hell to use those controls, and has been for since forever. Why the f__k don't the fix that? -- www.mattclara.com

I'll be flying next month to LA (from NYC). I have a Deardorff 8x10 which I carry in an F64 bag. I'm thinking of checking it through in a suitcase. I'll also be taking my Pentax 6x7, hopefully in the same suitacase. I have several questions about this: 1) is this a bad idea 2) if not, is there a special suitcase most suitable for the F64/ Deardorff?...
