Yes, Castle Photo of Lansing, in business for over 25 years, is closing its doors. I did buy all my darkroom chemistry from them, but B&H and all the rest (meaning Adorama and a couple others) can't be beat for most items, including paper, even though it commands a premium in shipping 'cause it's quite heavy. Castle Photo was a great resource, though...

hi, just as is the case with digital, i am trying to work with a crop factor, but can't figure the math. i have a 4x5 camera that has a 6x9 reducing back. my lenses are 203mm, 127mm and 90mm. what i am trying to fiure out is what "effectice" focal length they become when using the 6x9 back. i'm guessing somewhere around 1.5, but i don't know what to...

I hope someone can help me? I am new to large format photography and I am using a graflex 4x5 camera. The film I am using is Ilford 100. I process the film in a tray using D-76 1:1 for 13 min and I never stop rocking the tray, in addition I pull the bottom negitive and place it on the top and the negatives come out too light. What am I doing wrong? I...

I have been interested in LF cameras and bought two books on them. (I also took the NYIP course, and the old National Camera Camera Repair course - now defunct) but I have a few questions that I have wondered about. If you don't do your own developing and printing, how do you send the exposed pictures in to a lab? To take the picture you load the film...

Greetings all: I recently picked up a Polaroid 545 and some film, along with the requisite sodium sulfite and other goodies, and I have some questions about the sodium sulfite, but cannot find the answers anywhere! First, is whatever I put in the tray a one-shot use, or can I use the same solution for multiple negatives? How do I know when it's depleted?...

April 28, 2007, from Lloyd Erlick, I've been looking at my stash of boxed up old books ... (no guarantees that this formula works on current materials, or ever did, for that matter) ... [from "Fortunes in Formulas" by Hiscox and Sloane, Norman Henley Publishing, 1937-1939.] DOUBLE TONING (Dual Sepia): Here is a toner that will give two...

My son picked up one of these this evening. Hard to find info about it. Betax #3 shutter, uncoated. Came with an old Speed Graphic. Anyone got a link to some info? TIA, Collin KC8TKA

has anyone ever used the horseman 2x3 cameras for landscape work? i was considering either a pentax 534, or 67 system, but see that these systems are in the same ball park, cost-wise. i would--of course--love the movements available, and being able to use some lenses i already own, but have never used one, so i am looking for any experienced owner's...
