Hello, I am looking to buy a new tripod for my arca swiss 4x5 (f-line classic) camera and would appreciate your opinions. Lightness and sturdiness are my priorities as I like to hike. My last tripod (bogen) doubled as a walking stick in the Virgin Narrows several times and many other hikes. It needs to be retired and replaced so any help is greatly...

On the MPP MicroPress 4x5 camera there is a FRONT <-> BACK switch. It seems to be locked in the FRONT position but the FP shutter works fine in this position and I am not able to move the switch to the BACK position. Anybody knows the secret behind this switch? The camera came with a Xenar 135/4.7 lens. Is this an OK performer? I think I have the International...

Mention the phrase 'digital camera' and too often the immediate image that comes to mind is of a lightweight, flat, rectangular piece of hardware that carries an uncanny resemblance to those throwaway instant cameras picked up at airport terminals. http://digitalphotocameras.blogspot.com/

After a long phone odessey with Kodak (and some help from Chaim in B&H's darkroom department and one of B&H's buyers) I've discovered that Kodak does still sell the ready-to-use Flexicolor C41 developer (no separate starter and replenisher required). It's no longer packaged as gallon kits, though the bleach and fix are still sold as gallons. It is now...

I just read a 10 year old post about using a G-Claron as a 'pseudo- convertible' by using one cell; performance would probably be better than 'vintage' convertibles. I had previously wondered about splitting plasmats but wrote it off as 'sacrilege' on already decent lenses, but seeing the post made me realize it's been done. Anyone actually try this...

Hello: I just picked up a Gundlach 5x7 Rapid Symmetrical W.A. lens, roughly 8" f.l. (don't have it in my hands yet). The Rapid/Symmetrical names sound like a Rapid Rectilinear type, then I read that Gundlach had an extra element modification to the RR to get around a patent, so is it possible it might be 6 element rather than 4? Then I read that...
