If you know of people who have made stunning photographs for a scientific or technical purpose and who might be interested in participating in an exhibition of superior scientific and technical photography we'd much appreciate it if you would forward this note to them or simply disseminate the following announcement to as wide a potential audience as possible. Thank...

Hey It's good to see a group about this topic, it's not as well covered as it should be. People don't realize how expensive professional photography can be! That's why people who need/want great photos need to push the issue. I mean, I know why photographers charge as much as they do, or at least why they charge a lot anyway; business costs and all that....

It is my understanding that in any digital cameras, image processing is made inside the camera using the image sensor processing engine. In some advanced digital cameras, they let the users keep the unprocessed photos (RAW files), instead of the JPG files (which had been processed by the camera). My questions are as follows: - what is the extension file...

There were Sony's Bionz, Lumix's Venus III and Canon Digic III image processor engines. However, we never heard an official name of Nikon's image processor engine..... until now. Nikon has finally announced its new EXPEED image processor engine. I guess Nikon does not want to be left behind by the competitors in trying to entice the consumers with all...

I have some old Polaroids (just the picture itself). Does any service exist that would be able to take a picture from an instant camera and enlarge it to a poster size? I know that film negatives can be increased in size quite a bit, and that digital pictures can't really be enlarged at all, but I'm wondering about the potential of instant pictures.

If you have a Yahoo Photos collection, be aware that Yahoo Photos is closing this month. Go to your Yahoo account to see what they say. They offer several alternatives, to where you photos can be stored instead. One that they don't mention, but will work and with a LOT more features is SmugMug with many levels of security. You can password protect...

The new Panasonic Lumix DMC- L10 is finally arrived. However, I have not seen any sample photos. I wonder on how does it compare to other competitors. I heard it shares some of the technologies with the Olympus E-510. Having the four thirds type sensor, does this mean that the sensor size is slightly smaller than the standard DSLR sensor ( i.e 18x13.5mm...

I work for a college and am trying to take pictures of some art work behind Acrylic panes, but an having problems with unwanted lighting reflections. I bought a Tiffen 58mm Circular Polarizer, but it only seems to work at an angle in some settings. Straight on it doesn't seem to have a lot of effect. Here is an example of what I am talking about, with...

I live in the SW suburbs of Chicago, have been to umpteen stores and Web sites, and keep getting different info from them. Hi all, I have just completed a new section on my website that allows photographers to submit samples of their work for advertising and review. A great way to get exposure for your photography work and your website. Those who like to simply browse and rate the photos do not have to join. Hope you enjoy! http :// www .forestwander, com /Photoreview...
