Hi, my question regards the calculation of the best focus point for a situation in wich dof should extend from some near limit different from the hyperfocal point to infinity. I know about the formula 2*X*Y/X +Y (where X is the near limit of dof and Y is the far limit) to give the best focus point but what value do I have to set for Y if it should be...

I'm looking for a way to find - as exactly as possible - the real focal length of my lenses (as used on a D-SLR) to give me an indication about how reliable the EXIF-given focal length really is for zoom lenses. Assume: 1. that I know the distance between the CCD and an object that I make a picture of 2. the quotient between the distance between two...

I'm scanning old photos, and some of these photos have a very heavy diamond pattern (please see image link). * w w w .hali.org/imageProblem.jpg Does anyone know how I might be able to eliminate this pattern from the image using Photoshop? Thanks in advance! -Jim

I'm looking for a good address to have Black&White 35mm film developed in London. I tried Jessops but they took 2 weeks and the negatives had lots of calcium deposits on them. Any suggestions?

I'll be travelling to Rome this summer. I know a tripod is out of question for many places, not to mention the inconvenience. I am wondering if a monopod will be useful or not. Please advice.

Your photography equipment needs are minimal. You'll need a basic SLR camera - film or digital. For additional control and future options, the flash should be removeable. You'll also need lenses to cover the standard range of portrait shooting distances, a couple zoom lenses will work admirably. Clearly, more camera gear is better, but this will handle getting...
