Just wondering, what is the source of all the digital Dr. Bate's material that appears in this group? Sometimes called "The Book".

[...Floating Specks A very common phenomenon of imperfect sight is the one known to medical science as muscae volitantes, or flying flies. These floating specks are usually dark, or black; but sometimes appear like white bubbles, and in rare cases may assume all the colors of the rainbow. They move somewhat rapidly, usually in curving lines, before the...

Has anyone ever heard of this disease? It was a new one on me and I have not been able to find it in any of my medical books.

Dear Second-opinion friends, Dr. Bates recommended that a person monitor his Snellen -- and CLEAR IT, i.e., pass the required line. This you can do for yourself -- if Bates is correct. But, remember, Dr. Bates spend 10 years of his life, working with kids to GET THEM TO READ THEIR SNELLENS. Further, these kids were NOT YET wearing a minus lens, and...

[...Simultaneous Retinoscopy Much of my information about the eye has been obtained by means of simultaneous retinoscopy. The retinoscope Is an instrument used to measure the refraction of the eye. It throws a beam of light into the pupil by reflection from a mirror, the light being either outside the instrument--above and behind the subject--or arranged...

[...The Swinging Cure If you see a letter perfectly, you may note that it appears to pulsate, or move slightly in various directions. If your sight is imperfect, the letter will appear to be stationary. The apparent movement is caused by the unconscious shifting of the eye. The lack of movement is due to the fact that the eye stares, or looks too long...

What kind of preservative free eye drops are available for treating glaucoma? My ophthalmologist agrees that preservatives can give problems. It seems that all of her offerings contain BAK. I apologize that I do not remember who first warned be about preservatives. Bill

I present this question for Mike Tyner or another conventional ophthalmologist: I can easily play complicated pieces of music on the piano with a blindfold on. (So, obviously I cannot "see" the keys.) It reminds me of how Mike Tyner talked about how blind people can easily find their way around a room. (They cannot "see" the pieces of furniture.) How...

[...Cured in Fifteen Minutes Patients often ask how long it takes to be cured. The answer is that it takes only as long as it takes to relax. If this can be done in five minutes, the patient is cured in five minutes, no matter how great the degree of his error of refraction, or how long its duration. All persons with errors of refraction are able to relax...
