What's "spherical equivalent refraction"? My --right eye-- prescription is -11.25 -2.50x178 --I believe this means that my lens has a power of -11.25D at 178 degrees, and -13.75D at 88 degrees--, and I heard of this term "spherical equivalent refraction", which apparently is calculated by adding the spherical power, and cylinderical power divided by 2, so...

How can one tell if the inter-pupillary distance measured for one's eyewear is incorrect? When I turn my head all the way to the right and look towards the left, certain straight-line images appear curved. Is this normal? ( my previous eyewear wasn't like that )

How does one perform static retinoscopy using a direct retinoscope? Do dilate the eyes w/ atropine, darken the lights, take the retinoscope, stand 20' away, and try to neutralize the cat's-eye reflex w/ the phoropter? Which is better, direct or indirect, sreak or spot? Thanks!

Can anyone recommend me a website/vendor that sells prescription-based safety glasses? I'm trying to prevent splashes to my eyes from below, above, and from the sides of my eyewear. Thanks much !

Is there such as thing as toric RGP's, or do ALL rigid lenses only correct for corneal astigmatism, by conforming the tear film into a lens over the misshaped cornea? I have almost exclusively lenticular astigmatism, and I wear soft torics (Purevision), which correct fairly well--but after hearing about the higher quality optics with RGP's, I am very curious...

Smoking, Drinking and Sexual health Many men suffer from bedroom performance-related issues. Recent studies have put the number of men suffering from erectile dysfunction at 40 percent, but it is thought that the true figure should be higher because many men choose not to acknowledge the truth. Went to an eye talk couple days ago. The following (unresolved) question came up. When eye pressures are up (say in the posterior part of the eye) it affects the optic nerve. But pressures are measure in the front of the eye. The front chamber (anterior) is separated from the back chamber by the lens, etc. In the front chamber, a liquid solution,...
