How can I avoid bruising when using Lovenox?

How can I avoid bruising when using Lovenox?

I have to start injecting my husband tomorrow with Lovenox. He
normally takes Coumadin but is having a procedure on Wed.

I've done these injections many many times, but he always ends up with
a lumpy purple stomach. Per the Lovenox instructions, I don't rub the
site after the shot and I pinch some skin and hold it until I remove
the needle.

Is there any way to avoid the lumps and bruising? Would icing the
injection site help? Is that a good idea? I don't want to do
anything that will interfere with the medication.

Hi Jane. It would be best for you to ask this question at the Coumadin
Clinic or to the nurse that is monitoring your husband's care. They
have experience with hundreds of patients and are more likely to be a
reliable source of information than asking strangers on the Internet.
