antibiotics and probiotics at the meal?

My husband is taking antibiotics 2x a day with meals

When should he take the probiotics -- it's a live culture llike
yogurt?
Dr. Weil recommends to take them with meals but then they would be
fighting the ANTIBIOTICS! Does anybody have a suggestion?
Thanks!

Re: antibiotics and probiotics at the meal?

He should of course ask his doctor...

With myself, so far as I understand it, taking a course of antibiotics will
get rid of the "good" bacteria in the intestines. What I do is eat some
yogurt (which contains the good bacteria) after I am done taking the
anti-biotics to re-establish the good bacteria.

As I recall reading, a population of good bacteria in the intestines is good
in that it might not provide "elbow room" or "space" for bad bacteria to
take over and populate the entire area.

Sort of like how if you have a nice healthy lawn, weeds will have trouble
growing, although a few will pop up here and there. But if it is a bare
patch of ground, then weeds will grow all over the place.

For all the in's and out's of this subject (including doing as you
suggested), search google . com for the words...
antibiotics yogurt
