Prices for RxsI just had six Rxs filled at my local Wal*Mart Pharmacy. When I started to
pay for them the clerk told me the price was about $85.00. I asked them
what about my Medicare drug plan and she said they billed them for no
insurance, i.e., cash.
They are all, BTW, generic drugs and some are on their list of $4.00 cash
Rx. When they were re-priced for my Medicare Rx drug plan I find when I add
up the prices on the receipts that it comes to $148.14. However my plan
charges zero co-pay for generics so my out of pocket expense was zero.
Does WM have a deal that they charge a Medicare Rx drug plan MORE than they
charge a cash patient? I thought this was illegal, but again Wally World is
a big outfit in the retail world.
Is this a common pharmacy practice? Maybe the same price rule (cash vs.
government insurance) only applies when dealing with Medicaid patients?
