Bladder Neck Incision - Post Op questions and history

Greetings to one and all,

I'm a 38yo, have had a history of urinary problems over the past 2 years,
was diagnosed with acute prostatitis back in 2004, went on a course of cipro
and that appeared to cure the frequency and nocturia problems, but the flow
did not appear to be as forceful as I remembered it.

Skip forward to late 2006, noticed that the frequency was starting to become
an issue again, went back to my GP, was diagnosed with a recurrent UTI,
cipro again, this time I was sent for a KUB scan. Scan showed up a 2.5cms
stone in my bladder, ultrasound confirmed this, and also that I wasn't
completely voiding my bladder.

Went in for a cystoscopy and litholopaxy about 3 weeks ago, stone was
successfully crushed and removed, the cystoscope showed that I had a tight
bladder neck and that the prostate was on the small side. Was released from
hospital, all ok, peeing quite freely, about 10 hours later was readmitted
with complete urine retention, they couldn't insert a traditional catheter
so I had to have a suprapubic catheter inserted. Kept this in for about 2
weeks whilst also on a course of Floxmax, gradually managed to pee by
myself, only about 150 - 200mL, with about 100 - 150mL PVR.

Urologist suggested performing a BNI, this was carried out about 10 days
ago, was done via a unilateral incision.

Catheter was kept in for 24 hours, removed the following day, great flow,
some blood and clots, typical daily fluid intake was about 3 litres.

Now 10 days on something is starting to worry me, I've started to measure my
voided output, on average I'd say it is between 100 - 300mL during the day,
this is whilst maintaining a fluid intake of about 2 - 2.5 litres, usually
more first thing in morning, say approx. 400mL, the flow is still superb, it
only takes me a few seconds to pee, rather than a few minutes, although
sometime the flow seems to die off rather quickly.

I believe it can take up to 3 months for the functionality of the bladder to
get back to normal, but should I be expecting to void more than I currently
seem to be able to do.

Kind regards

Jon
