Advice for new radiographers

Were you to have the opportunity to give yourself advice at the very
beginning of your radiography career, what would you say?

I'd have to say to try to verify the future job opportunities. I have
lived in two major metropolitan areas where the schools were
graduating many more students than there were jobs available.

This is a major problem where I now live since one of the two
acredited programs is private and incurs a fee of over $25,000.00
(Yes,over Twenty-five thousand dollars). Several graduates can only
find perdiem placements. Makes it hard to repay a student loan of that
size.
In the Tampa Bay (FL) area, there were 4 community college programs
and one hospital based program in a 4 county area.
If you have the choice, consider an RN career. Nurses can pretty much
write their own ticket for employment. There may be one or two RT
jobs listed, but there are multiple columns of RN positions.
Don't get me wrong, I have been an RT for nearly 20 years and still
enjoy going to work, but the job climate is a lot different now.
Consider carefully.
