kVp & mAs, contrast & density

Talking with my instructor on Friday, but I'm looking for some help
here.

Okay, kVp drives contrast. More, to a certain point, is better. But
you have other effects going on at the same time that cause their own
issues with image quality. But you really want a reasonably long
scale image. Right?

mAs drives density. You really want a nice dark is dark image (with
contrast). Not dense enough and you wind up with a scene of a polar
bear in a blizzard. Right?

You can jack around kVp and mAs using the 15% rule, but how does this
really affect image quality? Are they really the same, or are there
visible changes in either contrast or density or both?

Thank you for your help. PT care, principles and anatomy today.
Monday is anatomy and principles finals, unit 5 positions and
challaneges. Wednesday is positions and PT care finals. And then
we're off until January 14th.
