Prescription assistance.

I am taking Fosamax for osteopenia. I have been getting it free from
Merck under their assistance program. Now, my doctor has been told (by
the hospital he works for) not to sign off on any future assistance
prescriptions. Their reason is that I am eligible for Medicare D (which
I do not have). Merck says that having Medicare does not prevent a
patient from getting assistance from them. What recourse do I have?

Re: Prescription assistance.

I would change my doctor, or bring the letter from Merck so your MD can
read that you are eligible.

I was on Merck before Medicare D .
I had to fill out a financial form that required me to prove my income
was for the year.
I used my income tax figures.

My NP told me about this program for people who did not have drug
coverage.
That was in 2002.
