Eli Lily reports first Osteosacroma death_Forteo
Eli Lily reports that a woman died from osteosarcoma while taking forteo. No
connection has been made between the use of forteo and the death from
osteosarcoma. I hope this link works, have had trouble with it else where.

I finished an 18 month regimen of Forteo in March
In early October I got what the local physicians assistant said was gout
in my right ankle. No fracture was seen in the x-ray.
The next week I went to see my rheumatologist who overswaw the Forteo and
was treating me for Osteoporosis. He said probably not gout, and an
additional x-ray showed nothing.
They gave me one of them bone-scans where they inject you with some type
of radiation and found something like a hole in the lower leg bone above
the ankle about the size of a finger.
The scan also showed clearly all my partially-poorly healed rib fractures
and hand and finger fractures and other arm and leg fractures that do not
heal well., blood tests showed some type of cancer my be in the body.
They gave me an ankle cast which is still on and it definitely feels
busted after 8 weeks.
I've been on Prednisone since 1983 and my severe osteoporosis (T scale of
minus 5.8 in the spine) is steroid induced. Another doctor gave me many
tests and they took a bone biopsy just 4 days ago. My ribs are so bad
that I cracked a couple while laying on the table in the procedure room.
The latest doctor, an oncologist, explained how with the prednisone
things get altered in blood tests but this bone biopsy will give the
prognosis.
--next week the results will be here. I just dropped my keyboard; I
busted both myh arms in a bad way last year and my shoulder is loose in
the socket. This is a depressing subject and I'll say no more tonight.
