Vitamin D lecture

Here is an in-depth online lecture 'Vitamin D Pandemic and Its Health
Consequences'. The lecture was presented by Professor and vitamin D scholar
Michael Holick in the 34th European Symposium on Calcified Tissues last
year.

Thanks. There is also a previous lecture 'Prospects for vitamin D Nutrition'
by Professor, vitamin D scholar Reinhold Vieth presented in 2005. This is
very good stuff also.

Thanks. Take a look at the lecture presented by Vieth also if you have not
seen it previously. The style is different but also very good stuff.

Re: Vitamin D lecture

Here is another link to lectures on vitamin D.
These are long talks and will take several
days to listen to and are in depth.
This material is for "grown-ups" in a sense
and isn't too dumbed down for the unwashed
masses. As I recall it best to save some
of the early talks until last. So don't start
at the beginning.....trust me on this.

Is there any text available?

What's the gist of it?

(I'm on a low-bandwidth connection here.)

I saw the lecture about one and half weeks ago, so I don't remember it in
detail but the central message is that vitamin D deficiency is common all
over the world; sufficient vitamin D would reduce the risk of many diseases
(osteoporosis, diabetes, many cancers, infectious diseases, hypertension,
some skin diseases, MS); and much higher doses of vitamin D are needed than
what the official recommendations currently are. Nothing new actually, but
the lecture is very convincing and well presented.

That's what one of the expert guests on "The Charlie Rose Show" said.
I think he recommended 1,000 IU, at least for some people.
