improve bone density and reduce fracture risk. It's a matter of finding
the right one for you.
As for long-term risks, these drugs are not without them and there is no
way to be assured. It so happens that the risks (as with any medication)
is relatively low.
The safest thing you can do is to have a good endocrinologist who has
expertise in metabolic bone disorders monitor your treatment, your bone
density, and your rate of bone resorption (there are several tests, but
the one I know of is called Urinary NTx). If your urinary NTx goes too
low, the dosage or administration frequency should be reduced/increased
as low NTx increases risk for brittle bones (and believe me it won't
take until "later in life").
