Bone loss reversed - no more Osteoporosis or Osteopenia

I am celebrating...feel like dancing in the streets.

Had my bi-annual dexa scan on Monday and the technician was so
surprised she sort of exclaimed. She laughed that my spine is better
than hers....and I said it was my hips that concerned me most...but
these are now 'normal bone density.' We talked some and when she was
finished I asked to look at the numbers and then I I picked up the
print out and looked at the graph myself..... I even looked at the
images.

Of course I need to wait for my physician to call me with the
'official results' but.... I this dexa scan shows that I have normal
bone in spine and hips!!!! (Wild cheering)

At age 71, after a decade of working to add bone density, I reached
my goal. I was motivated by several fractures early on and a fear of
losing my independene to hip fracture in my older age. I read just
about all the published studies [my college employment gives me access
to academic journals and like many of you I monitor the ncbi site]. I
have even followed the studies from China where they have a whole
different approach to Osteoporosis. And I used only natural [no
prescriptions] stuff for the last 8 years...since I could not tolerate
the med I was on.

. And I know from email I have received on the Osteopenia web site I
am not the only one who has reversed bone loss.. So, the medical
community says there is no 'cure' for Osteoporosis or Osteopenia. I am
not sure what they call it when we go from low bone density of
Osteoporosis and/or Osteopenia to normal bone density but I am not
sure the naming matters.

I think that as more and more people reverse bone loss, it will become
an expectation....and resaerch shows the people tend to be able to do
what they expect. I share my good fortune in the hopes that others on
this list will take encouragement and know that such IS possible.

Congratulations.

I assume that your spine looked the same as your previous scan?
(Meaning no compression that would increase apparent density?)

So what was your treatment plan?

She's posted here before.

I don't agree with some of the books and some of the exercises
that she recommends (and have posted that in the past), but she
does have some good information at her site.

Re: Bone loss reversed - no more Osteoporosis or Osteopenia

Sorry, I was not on the computer yesterday and so missed these posts.
Let me see if I can respond to them now.

Art, my physician ...who is very careful about things...said my spine
was a bit improved over last time but my spine was already back to
normal as of 2005 ( and no, no compression fractures showing on the
results) . My hips were the more dramatic improvement. I have had a
much more difficult time getting these to improve....even lost bone
density last time I had a dexa scan. It was after a year pretty much
off my feet because I blew out a knee, had surgery.... I thought that
might have been the main cause but was not sure. I had also been back
on antibiotics because of another case of lyme and that has been shown
to be problematical. Not sure if these were the causes BUT in the
last 2 years, I not only made up that lost but added additional bone
density so the results were up to 'normal'..

She (doctor) promised to send copies of the reports and the pictures
--- but I need to wait the USPS on that. I do not have these yet. I
always get them because I file them and find that taking them out every
so often and reading the results of several years, is motivating.
Since I have already had a broken wrist, an ankle broken in a couple
places and a shattered elbow - I have really keep myself motivated. I
do not want any more broken bones!

Someone commented that maybe I posted to bring traffic to my web site.
Well, I would not sneeze at traffic any time .......but that was not
my intent. I would feel that would be "using" this list and its
members --- I was just so happy, I wanted to share my good news & I
thought folks on this list would understand my joy..

Hmmmm. Pdf.....a nice idea. A number of people have advised that the
web site could use some images! But --- i do not have a pdf conversion
program. And to tell you the truth, I have some inhibitions about
putting my actual scans on the web. Seems so pubic to post one's
bones. Despite my posting info etc. I would not feel comfortable with
posting my scans.

Hope that addresses the comments. Someone asked about 'treatment
plan'....and I am going to try writing up all the things I have
done...try to put them in some sort of order so it would make sense to
others who might read it..

A long post.

Could we see some PDFs of the actual before and after scans please?

It'd be great if you added them to your website.

you would have good people doing good things
and evil people doing evil things.
But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.
