[A defective healing]Hello,
the 23 June I have fractured my right clavicle after a bad fall from
my bicycle. The first X-rays show the two parts of the bone clearly
disjointed, with a big gap in between. Then, as I was told it would
happen, they gradually started to reduce the gap, aiming at a
realignment; after that, I have been told, they would start to heal.
The point is that, instead, they began the process of healing not only
before their complete realignment, but just after they started to
touch each other, therefore in the worse alignment possible between
the two extreme values '0' - 'thickness of the bone'. The result is
that I am going to have a Z-like clavicle, which, on functional
perspectives, does not rejoice me at all.
The fracture in itself did bring me the bad news that in the future I
would have to cope with the idea of an imperfection, and a part of my
structure no more solid as before. But now the failure of a complete
and correct realignment drives me to despair.
Since the process of healing is just started, and it is however the
cause of, or an impediment for, the interruption of the alignment,
what I spontaneously thought is that perhaps if that little amount of
calcification which keeps the two parts stuck together could be
broken, then the alignment would start to proceed.
What do you think?
At the hospital they minimized the evidence and spoke of a 'good'
prospective of recovery, probably based upon statistics.
Do you know whether there exists any possibility to improve my
situation (perhaps with an operation) and if it is worth?
Many Thanks
