Question about Aerosol.

What would be the impact on a patient if he is having a Pneumothorax
(Collapsed Lung) and the doctor administers him an aerosol because he
thinks the patient has an attack of hyperventilation caused by hypoxy ...

To continue the story, the doctor sends the patient back home, on foot!

(this has happened in a real life situation, and now i want to find out
what the impact of that aerosol could have been on the lungs of that
person...)
