I guess it is an ok sentence. It's hard to say because we've all read
stories of people doing horrible things and getting off lightly. So he
gets 8 months in Pinellas County Jail, 3 years suspended drivers
license, 500 hours community service, and 5 years probation including
being banned from alcohol consumption.

He'll probably be segregated from the other prisoners during his jail
time. I can't see some spoiled, rich, white kid such as Nick being
"thrown to the wolves" so to speak. You know some thug would try to
make a name for himself by maiming or throwing an ass pumping on Nick.

Did anybody hear Nick's attorney sat something like "John's family is
suing the Bolleas for more money than they are worth"? The civil trial
is gonna be intense. How liable is the Hulkster in this whole thing?

If Terry Bollea (ie Hulk Hogan) paid for the car and the auto
insurance, besides supplying the alcohol, he is liable in a way. However
if John Graziano wasn't wearing a seat belt, and was drinking as well,
(Even though he was of legal age) it could lower the compensatory
damages (ie General Damages)

The punitive damages could hit the defendant, if the plantiff can
paint the defendant in a very bad light to the jury.

The Grazianos don't have an airtight case, and if Terry Bollea's side
show Graziano was negligent in not protecting himself, or knew they were
going to be drag racing, it could lower damages for the Grazianos.

I am guessing that this will be settled out of court via insurance
payout or a settlement to make a fund to pay for John Graziano's medical
bills

How so ? When you are driving a vehicle, you are the captain of the ship, and
thusly responsible for your passengers safety.
If a passenger is not wearing a seat belt, it is your fault, not theirs.
Pulled over in such a situation, you get the ticket, not them.
Don't think Hogan buying the car and/or paying for the insurance would be
factors either.
Why leave it at that ? Did he pay to fill up the gas tank also ? Pay for
driving lessons ? All immaterial.
The one thing you got correct is the alcohol factor, for which he certainly
would be liable.

That is only if you are a adult and the passenger is a child. Adult
passengers are GIVEN THE TICKET, at least in california.
