What's in Hilary Duff's Future - And What *Should* She Do?What is in Hilary Duff's future?
And what *should* she do?
These are the topics of today's post.
First of all lets start with where Hilary is at.
She has youth. She looks great. She's a musician who has a fan base.
She's an actress. She has money.
She could:
1. Follow the foot steps of her Mother and get married. Mike Comrie is
a great candidate: he has lots of
money, he loves Hil, he's handsome. This would satisfy Hil's dream of
moving to the suburbs and living
in a house with a white picket fence.
2. Follow the foot steps of Shirley Temple and become an ambassador
for the United States - or she run
for office - or manage a non-profit. That way she would leverage her
popularity and celebrity to do something
other than acting or singing.
3. Follow the footsteps of Jodie Foster and get a BA in acting. Then,
after being out of the spotlight for
a few years - return smarter and wiser.
4. Follow the footsteps of Madonna and focus on creating great music
and selling millions of CDs.
5. Consolidate her financial assets, set out of the public eye, attend
Stanford, and major in medicine.
6. Go for it and become the next Jessica Alba.
I recommend that she opt for option 5.
The problem with option one is that Hil will end up like her Mom - and
by 50 wander around telling everyone
who is listening that her husband is a philanderer. Susan Duff's sense
of entitlement is unbecoming. Some
wonder if she's already senile. Hil could similarly see her money
disappear via a series of law suits. Yes,
Hil would end up having some wonderful kids - but at 55 - when her
kids are grown - she won't be happy with her lot.
Just like her Mom.
The problem with option two is that there isn't much money to be made
in public service or by running
a non-profit.
Option three is OK. Even if Hil can't find movies to star in at age
27, she will be doing something she loves
doing - and she'll be a better actress.
The problem with option four is that Hil's heart isn't *fully* into
making music. She hasn't released a CD in over a year and
her last CD only had 25 minutes of new music. Also, the trend over
time has been for the "Hilary Duff" group to get smaller
and smaller audiences. In 2002 Hil was able to draw 50000 to an arena
in Texas - now she's doing great
if she can attract 2,500. The numbers are so low in the United States
that she doesn't tour here any more.
Sadly option 5 is the least likely. It would make a big difference if
Hil came from a family of doctors or
scientists. But she doesn't. Hil's Dad owns a convenience store chain
in Texas. But this is Hilary best bet. For starters Hilary is still
young (early 20s) and she has enough money to pay her tuition out
right and
graduate without debt. She's a smart gal who can think on her feet and
who has a good memory. She could maintain her interest in acting and
music as a hobby. When she's
55 years old she'd be just reaching the peak of her career and she'd
have a lock on making $200,000
per year in today's dollars. The fact that she won't have the physical
beauty then that she has now would not be important. She still might
look pretty good though because Hil already knows something about
dieting and nutrition. Today she looks fabulous.
The chances of option six working out don't seem to be that great at
the moment. "Material Girl" had small box
office numbers. But this does appear to be the current plan - starting
with War Inc.
