Dems to Clinton: Don't Say Anything to Hurt Us
Clinton Expects to Win W. Va., but Win Will Have Little Impact on Dem
Race
By JAKE TAPPER
May 12, 2008

Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., pressed her campaign ahead of Tuesday's
West Virginia primary as Democratic Party leaders warned her not to do
or say anything that could hurt Democratic front-runner Sen. Barack
Obama, D-Ill., in November.

Clinton is considered likely to win West Virginia's primary, perhaps
by as many as 30 percentage points, but the victory in the small state
is not expected to shake Obama's apparent hold on the party's
nomination.

What Democrats fear could have a lasting impact is what Clinton might
say about Obama that could split the party or be gleefully reused by
Republican John McCain in the fall election.

Rep. Steve Cohen, D-Tenn, an Obama supporter, compared Clinton to the
Glenn Close character in "Fatal Attraction" -- a spurned woman turned
stalker who was apparently drowned in a bathtub only to jump up one
more time to be shot dead.

"Glenn Close should have stayed in that tub, and Sen. Clinton has had
a remarkable career and needs to move to the next step, which is
helping elect the Democratic nominee," Cohen said during a local TV
interview....

I have no concerns about Hillary, when the time comes, she will be his
most rabid supporter in the country. She has even clearly said so more
than once. Besides what would she say, that you idiots haven't been
saying for months?

What water do these empty threats toward Hillary hold at this point?
The dem establishment has already dumped on, deserted, insulted, even
betrayed the Clintons in favor of their new secular Christ figure
Obammy. What are they going to do, kick her out of the party if she
doesn't fall in line right now? She's about to wipe him out tomorrow
in West Virginia. It's gonna be embarrassing. Has John F Obama even
bothered to enter West Virginia to campaign? JFK won it if you recall.
Soundly. Hillary will wipe the W Va floor with Obama's Oxford shirts
tomorrow.

So, she kicks his ass in W VA....so what. The nomination is based on
delegates, not WVA ass kickings.
His trip so far has been phenominal. He took on and edged out the
"anointed" candidate. Quite an accomplishment!

It will further prove he is a candidate who can't get the white blue
collar hillbilly vote. Although I hear he will hire as a VP candidate
former Big Time wrestler Haystacks Calhoun. That should do it.

Being the pick of an all boys club is hardly an accomplishment. If he gets
the DNC nom, she should run as an Independent and teach 'em a lesson.

If she wants to ensure that John McCain gets elected, that's just what
she should do. I don't think she wants that. I think she would rather
see her legislation passed.

She already beats McCain in the polls. Obama doesn't. She can win the big
states. Obama can't. How does that ensure a McCain win?

If she works AGAINST Obama and attempts to split the Democratic party?

The only people trying to split the party is the DNC, by shoving their
choice down the throats of democratic voters. Clearly, while all the
pundits and "super-delegates" declared Clinton living in a "separate
reality," she is living in the real world, among real people, untainted by
the media or ivory tower academics. She clobbered Obama in West Virginia.
67/26 isn't a split; it's a statement.

Yet all I hear are pundits and politicians insisting it's democratic
principles at stake, not the person who represents them. Not the people's
choice. Fuck that.

They're not. Obama simply won more delegates to the convention by
having a more organized ground game in the early contests. My state
went for Obama 2 to 1.

Yes, it's a statement that the Democratic voters of THAT STATE prefer
Clinton by a wide margin. It DOES NOT mean anything else.

> Yet all I hear are pundits and politicians insisting it's democratic

So far, the people's choice is Obama.

According to RealClearPolitics, the vote total today is:
Obama 16,680,827
Clinton 16,710,298

Clinton is up by a margin of 29,471, which is 0.09% of the vote
total. And that includes Michigan, where Obama didn't even appear
on the ballot because they broke party rules and held their primary
too early. Had they held it within the times allowed by party rules,
his name would have been on the ballot, and it's certain
that Obama would have gotten more than 29,471 votes.

And here's another thing. Popular votes, when they're taken from
contests with different rules in different states and at different times
can't be simply added up and taken as representing popular sentiment
in total.

Here's why:
Rules Differences:
* Some states allowed independents and even
Republicans to switch over and vote in the Democratic party at the
last minute, whereas other states required you to be registered as
a Democrat months in advance.
* Some states had caucuses rather than primaries, which ALWAYS bring
out a smaller number of people. Caucus states are drastically
under-represented as compare to primary states, if you just count
votes.
Schedule differences:
* States voting early had voters contending with poorer weather and they
had shorter daylight hours. This brings out fewer voters than spring
contests.
Different slates of candidates:
* States with early primaries had many more candidates on the in the
running. Both candidates got fewer votes in those contests than they
would have in a later contest. There is no way to tell how the voters
for Edwards, for instance, would have broken out if Edwards had been
out of the race earlier.

Yes, they are. Clinton clobbers him and the next day Edwards runs to
endorse him. Inconsistent with the will of the people.

My state did not vote Obama. Nor did the surrounding states.

Democratic voters in all the large states prefer Clinton.
Misssissippi--home to sophisticates and intellectuals---prefers Obama.

No, he's the super-delegate choice.

So lets see, he has more delegates, and the only way Clitory can win is
if she gets a majority of the super delegates, but according to you this
is not possible.
