I'm sorry but when I've had my hands all over a VP machine, the last thing I
want to do is then eat food without washing those hands!
Gross!!

That's hilarious. A White Castle promotion, but I guess it ties into
the Midwest visitors? I have plenty restaurants in my hood, but
after trying to eat 2 dozen of them(and failing) many moons ago I
really haven't much a desire for them since.

You have to grow up eating them, otherwise you won't get the craving for
them.

There's not one White Castle in Las Vegas, or even anything similar
except for small burgers called "sliders" (which aren't like White
Castles at all) on the menu at a few locals bars.

"sliders" of course is slang for White Castle burgers, so they're
tryng to make you think its the same thing.

I've treid the mail order frozen ones, but they're just not the
same...

Exactly.

They're not awful, they just don't have the same greasy goodness as a
freshly fried and onioned White Castle (preferably with cheese). Harold
and Kumar would not approve.

The local sliders don't compare to White Castle, I'm afraid. Still,
they're very good at some places. I just had the Claim Jumper version
yesterday, and felt quite happy. The Claim Jumper ones are about twice
the diameter of White Castle and about 300X as thick. Unlike White
Castle and the grease-grilled onions, these were made of real beef,
cooked to perfection and topped with cheese. . . served with pickle
chips, onion, tomato and lettuce. 4 were about $10, as I recall, but
that was plenty to split between Mrs. Nonny and myself for a BIG lunch.
We've also had decent sliders (again, not to compare with White
Castle) at many VP joints. PT's comes to mind as very acceptable, FWIW.

===========Frozen WC cheeseburgers may be sold at Sam's Club or Walmart. I'm not
sure how big of a following they get outside the midwest so I'm still
a tad confused on a promotion featuring them (insert slider or any
other nickname here)'s.

If you buy the frozen ones:
(from http :// www .theimpulsivebuy,com /wordpress/2005/05/06/206/))
========== Take the two burgers and nuke them on high for about 20 seconds.
Open the microwave and take the tops of the buns off and remove them
from the cooking interior. At the same time rotate the burgers by 180
degrees.

Restart the microwave and cook until you see the cheese bubble
(usually about another 40 or so seconds). Open the microwave and put
the tops of the buns back on the burgers and close the door.

Let them sit in the dark lifeless microwave for about another
minute. This will warm and moisten the bun tops with out drying them
out.

I was just thumbing through the pictures on that site and found a lot of
men wearing coats and ties. Is this casino too formal for me? Will I feel
out of place in Dockers and button-down shirt? Should I consider a tux?

The coats the patrons sport are the remnants of staight jackets, and
their ties are really hangman's nooses.

Wierd place, El Cortez.

Think about it Tom, do you really want to start dressing like Burt?

I thought Burt dressed sorta cool. I loved that nylon jacket from the
fifties----think "Grease," only gay nylon instead of leather. (No one with
the name BURT can be gay, I know, but even if he were, he'd still be "our"
Burt.)

Are these going to be the frozen food section variety? I'm pretty sure we
don't have White Castle's out here
