Guns at Atlanta airport

A new GA law allows people with concealed weapons permits to carry
guns on public transportation, in parks and restaurants that serve
alcohol. All these places were illegal for guns before July 1
2008.However the mayor of Atlanta says anyone bringing a gun to the
Atlanta aiport will be arrested. GaCarry.org has filed a suit against
the mayor to stop her from baning guns at the airport. Everyone agrees
it's still illegal to have guns in the secure area. You can read about
this case at GaCarry.org I think having people with concealed weapons
permits carrying guns at the airport would be a deterent to terrorism
and make people changing planes to go to Vegas safer. Ronald
Emerson.

A letter writer to the Atlanta Journal Constitution said that if the
ACLU realy cares about constutional rights they should support the
right to carry guns at the airport. Andrew in Alabama should get
invoved in this case because there is no other lawyer of his calaber.
Of course they should have more dogs like me at the airports to snif
for bombs. Foxie Emerson.

The 2nd Amendment involves gun ownership, not gun use. There's nothing
in the Constitution that prevents reasonable government restrictions on
how guns can be used. The Supreme Court's recent decision that struck
down Washington DC's concealed gun carry ban agreed with that viewpoint.
The ACLU won't get involved because there is clearly no constitutional
issue with banning people from carrying guns at an airport. And why
anyone other then cops and TSA agents would need to carry a gun at an
airport is beyond me.

That, IIRC, also continued the well-established legal principle that
property owners, even public places like malls, have an absolute right
to say who can and cannot have carry on their property.

I'm a firm believer in concealed carry and the right of anyone, with
exception, to own and carry a firearm. Of course, there are some places
where it is just a good idea to leave the gun at home. Shopping malls,
movie theaters, and airports. If your taking a plane, you can't have a gun
and if your dropping someone off, you wouldn't be inside anyway.
Why anyone would need to carry a gun at an airport is beyond me.

I don't trust half the people I meet to safely navigate a car let alone
carry a frigging gun.

Since installing the latest version of the TMG LLC mileage enhancer,
my Toyota is getting about 70 - 75 miles per gallon, and I can get it
up to over 125 mph. And if I wanted to at the same time I could shoot
the eye out of a sparrow 100 yards away, so fear not.

I hope the case doesn't get to court before I fly through ATL in
November. I have exactly zero desire to be in a place where everyone is
rushed and generally in a bad mood when guns are present. If the case
has been decided in favor allowing guns, I hope they at least post signs
notifying the bullets where they can't go after they've been fired.
