OT - Happy 4th of July
In the spirit of the American Revolution, here is one of my favorite quotes
from Dwight Eisenhower. I admired him when I was a kid but in the past few
years, I have really come to understand him:
"Here in America we are descended in blood and in spirit from revolutionists
and rebels -- men and women who dare to dissent from accepted doctrine. As
their heirs, may we never confuse honest dissent with disloyal subversion."
He would have been right at home with Adams, Jefferson and the rest of the
mal-contents that gave us this wonderful country.

Re: OT - Happy 4th of July
My parents were staunch Stevenson people (another Unitarian by the way),
but Eisenhower's last speech to the nation warning against the
military-industrial complex is a brilliant classic. We should all listen
to it over and over again. I wonder if he wrote it himself.
