Bill's Gamblin' Hall

Bill's Gamblin' Hall

K.L. Mouton is back from Las Vegas. I stayed at Bill's, hoping it was
Barbary Coast untouched. Maybe my Barbary memories are just fuzzy, but
I thought Barbary was more vibrant and eye-appealing than what Bill's
is now.

It's not a dump by any stretch, and I did catch Big Elvis for the
first time (now I know why everyone speaks well of Big E), but
Harrah's hasn't done anything to it in a positive way from what I
could tell.

The location, of course, is the appeal. And those of you who told me
the parking garage was both handy and easy to navigate couldn't have
been more correct.

Surprise, surprise. The Rio's not what it used to be, either. Thanks
again, Harrah's.

There was much that I did enjoy. Bellagio, Palms, and much to my
surprise, Planet Hollywood. Though I wouldn't want to spend too much
time at the latter since I'm not 21 years and 1 day old.

K.L. actually spent money in Neonopolis. Well, close to neonopolis at
Mickie Finnz. Seafood and fishbowl cocktails. Not bad.

Vegas is very fun. It's worthy of a newsgroup.

Does he still look like he is just about ready to have a heart attack
within 5 seconds of starting to sing?

I think he is 'Elvis's long lost twin brother'

Not at all. He even stands up frequently to sing. Apparently losing
1/4 of a U.S. ton does wonders for one's health.

The way BE sweats, I wouldn't suggest you get too close to him.

Not a problem if they are kept separate.

Wow!

Thanks for the trip report, something that's all-too-rare from the

The reason for that is I'd been in my longest Vegas absence in my
adult life, I think. I started following this newsgroup to live
vicariously through others, I guess.

But dang it, betting ponies and ballgames while getting drinks brought
to you for free - there's a name for a place like that: Nirvana.

I agree with you about PH. It is definitely a casino on crack.

Back around 1999-2000 Big Elvis used to do his thing at the Magic Star
casino way out towards Railroad Pass. They had dirt cheap specials so I was
there every week or so. He used to end his set roll into the cafe and just
dominate entire plates of food in record setting pace. That man could grub
like no other, I'm pretty sure that's how that place paid him.

Don't expect Harrah's to do anything meaningful with the Barbary
Coast. After they changed the name following the purchase from Coast
Casinos, they had no plans on keeping it up for very long. But thanks
for the recession, imploding a perfectly good older property doesn't
sound like such a great idea anymore. They will no doubt keep it
around for a while longer without putting any improvements into the
property. I'm sure they'll maintain it, but that's about it. I've
always liked the BC...I'm glad that it'll be staying for a few more
years at the very least.

If only they'd waited a few more years on the Stardust and Frontier.
No way they would've blown them up today.
