Vegas wedding advice, please

Vegas wedding advice, please

I was wondering if, among the hardened spielers and Vegas aficionados
here, there was anyone who actually got married in LV. My other half and I
are planning to do the evil deed in October and, having checked out a load
of relevant websites, I'm finding the number of potential locations a
little daunting!

There will just be the two of us and we would want a civil, rather than a
religious, ceremony. Any recommendations would be gratefully received.

TIA,

Ian

Two friends of mine went to the MGM Grand and had a very nice
wedding/honeymoon there. It was not religious.

We did a renewal of vows at the Viva Las Vegas wedding chapel. They
were great to work with both on the phone in planning, and the day of
the ceremony. We had an Elvis ceremony, but they do everything from
traditional to themed costume weddings.

I've sure you've read enough by now to know you've got 3 main choices
- courthouse, independent wedding chapel or hotel wedding chapel. Any
idea which way you are leaning?

Thanks for the info. Independent wedding chapel would be the thing, as
long as it can be non-religious. We're veering towards Elvis-ness
ourselves!

My first wedding took place at the "Little Chapel of the West". It was
towards the end of the strip by the Sands. It was just like the typical
ones you see on TV with fake flowers, a weird organ player, etc. We got
married there because several "Movie Stars" had also made it their chapel
for their first marriages. It was OK but I'm not sure if it's still there
anymore. Unfortunately the marriage went the way of the Sands. Imploded!
Good luck and congratulations. Vic

Ours involved chickens, a pickup truck and barbecue grill. <in the
words of a former person to the newsgroup> Honest, I swear.

Seems to be - http :// www .littlechurchlv, com /. Looks quaint.

LOL! After 26 years together, I think we'll be OK for our autumn years!

My neighbors got married here in a balloon several years ago.
You might want to start by thinking about exactly what you'd like the
ceremony to be... just because it will only be the two of you doesn't mean
that you want to do the drive up thing. It can be almost anything you can
imagine.

I think I'll pass on the balloon idea, given my appalling vertigo!

I think it'd just be fun to do something as tacky as possible. We're
hardly in our first flush of youth (me 57, she 46) so no flowing gowns,
tuxedos and 100 guests for us. We'll probably just go to a show that
evening.

That particular couple were both in their 50's and it was a second marriage
for each. I saw a few photos, they wore suits although I have no idea how
she got into the basket dressed that way.

If you're really set on "as tacky as possible", then maybe a totally drive
through event? There are now several places that do weddings that way...

http :// www .alittlewhitechapel,com /tunnel_of_love.html
http :// www .lasvegasweddinginformer,com /drive_thru_chapels

Then a drive thru (or drive in) for your post nuptial feast<G> There are
lots of options, you could go as tacky as you wanted, and even another for
dessert. You could even take in a drive in movie!

It would make for a story to tell.

I always think it's a hoot to see a bride in full regalia at a craps table.

Cool. But the long white gown would add a classy touch. BTW, where's
Oscar's drink?

I sawt a bride and groom in full regalia waiting in line to go into
the CC buffet. That was just sad, although I'm sure it will make him
appreciate anything she might cook in the future.
