Sahara

I was last in Vegas in Feb, has anything changed at the Sahara? We
love the coffee shop (hate the buffet).

Sahara is slated to go "hip and trendy" pretty soon. The new owner(s) are
going to try to make it the next Hard Rock style boutique hotel.

Not good news.

It's that very nebulous quality that allows you to attract those who
are young and naive and have lots of cash to flash and are willing to
do 6:5 Blackjack and 7/5 VP and go back for seconds and spend four
figures for bottle service at a club that they think is exclusive!

Re: Sahara

I have liked the Sahara since the monorail stopped there, good value. the
Mexican restaurant is good, Chocolate cake in the coffee shop can be split
amongst two, its rich and good.

The fact the Monorail stops at the Sahara is a plus IMHO. I've bought one
of those 3 ride passes & it lasted me all day on the Strip. If I remember
correctly, the Sam's Town shuttle dropped me off @ Harrah's, which I
quickley left to hit Barbary Coast/CP/Bellagio/Bally's, then the Monorail to
LV Hilton, then rode it to the Sahara, then ducked into a cab back downtown.
At least that's what my day on the Strip routine used to be. It's been a
couple of years since I've done that.

I had breakfast in the Sahara coffee shop last April. It was good, but
not spectacular.

I haven't done the buffet there for quite some time.

For some reason, I love their blueberry pancakes. I'd put them up
there with some of the best I've had. The Spanish omlett is pretty
good too.

Cheap and cheerful. The rooms, especially in the new (Tangiers) tower are
pretty decent, and 1/2 the price of anything else on the strip. Coffee
shop is OK, Mexican place is actually not bad, buffet sucks. The best part
is it's pretty low limits at the tables, essentially downtown limits but
on the strip.
