Info on Terribles/Priceline Comment

First, is anyone familar with Terrible's? Comments on the hotel?
What is the difference between the standard and the deluxe rooms?

Now for the comment. I am going to Vegas for the bridge national
championships. I booked on Priceline, and got the first 5 days of the
tournament at the Hyatt Place for about $54 a night all-in. I tried
to get the next 5 nights at the same price at the same hotel, but no
luck. I placed a new bid for slightly more money, and ended up with
Terrible's for $59 a night, all-in.

Considering that the other 2.5-star hotels were Hyatt Place (of
course), Marriott Residence Inn and Courtyard, etc., I wasn't too
thrilled. I was even less thrilled when I looked up reviews which
ranged from mediocre to awful. I was REALLY less than thrilled when I
found much lower rates on other sites (i4vegas was the lowest). When
you bid on Priceline's "Name Your Own Price" you aren't sure what
you're going to get, but you surely don't expect to pay more than you
can get on the "street."

At first, Priceline told me I was SOL. After one phone call and one
email, on the second call (not too bad) they agreed to refund the
difference between what I paid and the i4vegas rate, plus 10% of the
i4vegas rate. Since the price I bid on Priceline (without taxes &
fees) was $52 a night, and the i4vegas rate was $44, they refunded me
$12.40 a night.

So if I can get information telling me the "deluxe" rooms are worth
it, I figure I can take the $12.40 and upgrade. (The upgrades on the
Terrible's website are $10.90 a day.)

The standard rooms are in the original wing. Hallways leading to the
rooms are narrow and kind of claustrophobic, but the rooms themselves
are fine. You'll get a view of either the pool or a parking lot.

The deluxe rooms are in a 6-story wing (they call it a "tower") opened
within the last couple of years. Furnishings are newer but not really
fancy or high quality in my opinion. Deluxe room...

I'm fine with the standard room myself. Both rooms have the same
flat-screen TV with the standard-width picture annoyingly stretched to
fill the widescreen. For 5 nights, I'd spend the $50-60 difference on
something else.

Avoid the buffet, by the way, which really is Terrible. The coffee
shop right next to it is okay, and there may be a discount coupon in
their funbook.

I thought a poster indiciated that he ate every meal in Vegas at Terrible's
buffet. If he and his wife kept going back, it must have been good. He
wouldn't lie to us.

A group of us stayed there last year, some in the tower, some in the
standard rooms. There is not enough difference to be worth the
cost of the upgrade as far as I could see.

Eat elsewhere.

You will like Terrible's. Best part is you don't have to walk 10
miles to get to your car.
