OT: Niagara Falls Casinos

Just finished making reservations for Niagara Falls, Onatario, for five
days this upcoming November. I will be staying at the Marriott
Fallsview, which is supposedly connected to the Fallsview Casino. There
is also a Casino Niagara on the Canadian side, as well as a casino named
Seneca Niagara Casino on the American side.

Anybody in this group ever been to any of these places? (I was in
Niagara Falls back in the early 70's, but there were no casinos at that
time.) Also, are there any other casinos within an easy drive from the
Falls?

Thanks in advance,

llk

I have yet to hear anything flattering or pleasant about Canadian casinos.
Now, I've never been to one, but I've heard that compared to Las Vegas,
they've got a lot of nanny-state type rules (no free drinks, no drinks
served at the games), charge for parking, high table minimums, etc...
That's what I've heard regarding casinos further west in Canada, so maybe it
varies throughout the country.

Thanks, Cameron. The casinos are not the main purpose of this trip, but
while I'm there and they're there. . .

I am surprised about no drinks at the tables. That's the first I had
heard of that!

Like I said, I don't know if that's the policy throughout Canada, but that's
what I've heard about the casinos further west.

If I'm not mistaken no comped drinks with liquor,
but I think two rum & cokes cost $10.

Soda pop is comped.

Correct, and the waitresses were all normal looking middle aged ladies as
I recall.

We've been to them all... does that really make us degenerates?
Thoroughly doing the falls is one of the 10 best things I've ever done. It's
a must see before you die.

I did most of what the falls had to offer 35 years ago (helicopter tour,
Maid of the Mist, the caverns behind the falls, etc.) Has there been
anything added that might be available in November. (I know Maid of the
Mist is closed, not certain about the caverns).

Thanks for the response.

I was there in the Winter once. It was pretty amazing. Everything within
a few hundred yards of the Falls was covered with ice.
